STI Legacy, what would happen if the VDC outback and the STI WRX had a baby

With all the recent mention of the Lancer attributes overseas I realized that subaru has all the parts currently to create an awsome vehicle with little R&D.

Basically take the redesigned legacy wagon platform, use a mix of components from the STI (engine transmission) and some from the VDC (controls, sensors). You would end up with all the features that the JDM Lancer currently flaunts.

I see this as an EASY competitor to that of the S4 crowd.

What do you guys think? Subaru has a parts bin with all sorts of cool items. Too bad its not possible to build a car from a list sort of like a Lego set

Of course its possible, and its been a policy in place for decades.

Here are some varying examples;

* Honda Accord sedan chassis & drive train begets Odyssey minivan begets '03 Pilot suv.

* Chevrolet '80's X-Body "Citiation" chassis & drive train -> Cavalier then add a Chevette front sub-frame -> Fiero (Cavalier chassis with a Chevette front subframe and a Cavalier front sub-frame reversed and installed in the rear...genius!)

* Toyota JDM 'Pajero' chassis & body lengthened -> '03 US Toyota 4Runner -> slightly height increased Lexus GX470 -> Euro/AUS 'Landcruiser'

* Chevy Suburban chassis -> shortened chassis 'Yukon' -> '03 Hummer 'H2'

Do some rearch and you'll find that Lego's and recycling of parts, systems, entire chassis and body panels are more common than you might think.

In all honesty, I have no desire for the AYC system of the Lancer Evo, and yes, I have driven one with it. That leaves the ACD system, which Subaru already has in the form of DCCD.

Which is all that is missing from the S401 STi Legacy. The S401 STi Legacy got the STi 6-speed and a good front diff already, the Brembo's and some good suspension upgrades.

TheDonPerignon Kostamojen: My intention for this post was that I could purchase the vehicle in question in the USA. I realize vehicles with similar spec to what I mention exist elsewhere.

I didnt realize the B4 had the stability control built in, where did you read that?

The legacy turbo will be out soon enough Granted, not STI parts, but that might happen at a later date... who knows.
