Default does ICBC cover your mods.?

ok once your fully moded. car got tot. nothing would left so no matter how much u spent is pointless to hv a insured car.....

under what circumstance(s) ICBC would cover anything? usually you wont report your moded to ICBC, will they cover your damaged mod.?

if somebody jacked your rims?

if your bumper and aftermarket muffler got rear-ended?

(jacked/damage) little things like sidemarkers, clear corners, fog lights, fog light covers, side mirrors, spoilers, mud flaps, steering wheel, gauges, sport seats, roof rack, tinting etc etc (wow I hv listed alot )

thank you

If you have receipts then those things are covered.
If you don't have receipts it is not covered. But if you
have HEAPS of stuff done to your car you might want
to run it by ICBC to see if they would cover it. You may have
to get higher insurance. I have heard dudes with crazy stereo systems worth 10's of thousands need higher rate insurance.

ICBC will only cover certain amounts of money. For example, I think in car stereo systems are claimable up to $1000 with receipts. You can pay a higher premium to be covered.

Like tora said, you'll need receipts. Pictures just won't do the job anymore.

Keep in mind that ICBC does take depreciation into their value. Either way, your not going to be happy Just hope that all the parts you don't have receipts are only slightly damaged and maybe they'll replace it for you.

Privatization also means higher insurance costs for young drivers like us with newer cars. Look at Alberta for instance.

If you take in the receipts I think they will cover it. I had extra insurance put on my old Civic to cover the cost of the GSR engine swap. I forget how much extra I had to pay, but they did want to see receipts and want to see the car.
I figure it was worth it, would have really sucked if somebody stole my car and all I got credit for was a base Civic DX.

I know someone that has Canadian Direct Insurance and they would not cover one penny for his third windshield claim on his work van. And the claims were legitimate too.

The Private guys do the same after multiple claims too....not just ICBC.

yup, and the private guys aren't legally required to insure you...they won't even look at you if you have had any claims (never mind at fault claims) in the past 5 years.

2nd hand parts are alright as long as you have a receipt.

If you have a TS and buy WRX wheels, its best to have a document with the VIN# and signatures of both parties approving this transaction. If not, they'll give you your 15" steelies.

Either that or charge you a ridiculous amount of money just so you can drive your car.

i think they cover anything that is attached to the car...like bodykits, rims, shocks, etc...(that's in an accident, dunno about theft)..

of course receipts are good to have..
