Default Clutch replacement issue OR picking a fight!

So the dealer is claiming ignorance and the fact that they can change the clutch on the WRX without taking the front wheels off?

Anybody agree? I sure don't.

Reason I ask is its very strange that I can take off my Kyokugen locking lug nuts on the back with a simple socket set, yet the fronts would not budge with a 3 foot breaker bar or even with an Impact Wrench? Dealer claims they must have just gotten hot and seized... um no.

So now, the fronts are slipping, stripping and I am running out of options.

Thanks,

Jay

Default fronts

i have replaced too many clutches to count on subaru's i never-never take the front wheels off. there is absolutely no reason too once the trans is unbolted from engine u slide it back 4-5 inch and the inner joints slide off trans stub shafts. thats it and it goes back in the same way. this includes many - many wrx's

this is the every sub tech that is train does it

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the responses.

While I do want to believe them since it is my fav mod friendly dealership and I talked directly to the tech that did my clutch change. It is very strange that I was the last one with the wheels off, I put them all back on by hand with a torque wrench to 65lbs. The backs spun off so easily, but the Fronts as I said will NOT move. Been to two tire places and now we are talking about cutting them off!

I have orded two new keys and hopefully with electrical tape to make things tighter on the nuts, I can get the fronts off.

Just all seems very suspicious.

Thanks,

Jay

Same thing with the wheels happened to me. I'm 100% sure the dealer overtorqued the nuts. I split a Craftsman socket trying to get the damn thing off. We used my friend's impact wrench to finally get the nuts off. Talk to your dealer or find a buddy with an impact wrench.

Well, I am hoping 2 new keys with electrical tape to tighten things up in the socket might do the trick. I have tried my impact wrench with no luck and that started my slipping issue.

Thanks.
