Angry please help, I need to fix vandalism asap

Well,

For the 3 hours I had my car parked in a parking lot downtown, some bastard(s) decided it would be fun to SUPER GLUE A PENNY ON MY HOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

It's on tight.... how can I take the penny & super glue (or some other kind of strong glue) off without damaging the paint!!!!

I'm sorry, but I'm really very very very pissed right now...

Edit: I'm sorry this happened, but we don't tolerate profanity on this board... danke -North Ursalia

I'm sure it'll damage the paint somehow... but if it was waxed, it might not be so bad.

Acetone dissolves superglue. Acetone is nail polish remover. Don't rub it in, just let it trickle.

But yeah... nail polish remover = paint remover... which is why I said I hope you waxed recently. It might help protect.

And I'm sorry, bro. That realls sucks.

Super glue is no friend to very hot water...go to boiling point and let it dribble on for a 10 min.

Best I can offer...

thanks for the suggestions...

I got the penny off using a combination of a hair dryer, boiling water, and lemon juice (somebody suggested a citric based product that might be able to help so I used lemon juice)

Now there is the left over super glue... shapped like the face of a penny

Well... I'm off to boil some more water and if that doesn't work, I'll be back to check here.

Question... what would disolve nail polish? I'm thinking, since the penny is off, I could lightly rub the glue w/ nail polish, or something like that, then wipe it off right away with something that'll protect the paint...

Any suggestions?

w00t... it's 1/4 gone after scrubbing for 10 minutes. I boiled some water mixed w/ lemon juice... lol... it sounds crazy, but it works, before that the glue was hard as rock and scrubbing didn't help....

and I don't think the paint is too damaged under it...

phew.. I feel somewhat better now...

Well... I think I did as good of a job as I could... the paint is slightly damaged it seems... about there is a contour left... about 1/3 of the outline of the penny... it seems that it was embedded into the paint...

It isn't too bad... not my worst defect on the hood... but probably close

Oh well... I'm going to wipe it down some more, then clean & wax that area...

3m makes an adhesive remover. not sure if it works on superglue, but it takes off tree sap and wax. if that glue was only attached to wax you might be able to take off the wax with superglue attached with this stuff.

Ugh, at least they didn't key the car - that's a guaranteed repaint.

Well... I've done all that I could. It's not perfect, but pretty close. There is a mark the size of a hair line that's about 1/3 the contour of a penny left on the hood. It can't be seen unless you're lookin at it closer than 5-6 ft, so I'm not too upset about that, except that it was somebody that did it to me.

In all, I spent 5 hours taking the penny off, washing, polishing, and waxing the spot.

Oh well... But, one thing is for sure, next time I go to school, I'm going to complain to them maybe they have some security camera tapes.

Angry I have that beat!!!

You think that is bad... I had my car for less then TWO MONTHS when someone KNIFED it from Headlight to tail light!!!

That should make you feel a little bit better!!

I had the body work done and it came up to be 2600.00. Looks like new, but I am sure you know just how pissed I was??!!
