Default cel + limp mode on 01 rs

Ok, for mods I have:

ganzflow intake w/ green panel filter
2.25" apexi N1 catback
proecm chip (v2)
under drive pulley

I always use mobil 1 10w30 synthetic and my car is at 51k miles.

I was leaving work yesterday (the weather two days ago was hot and then it got really cold last night). My car sorta felt like the clutch was slipping...it was really jerky. But after I got into 2nd gear at 5000 rpms, my cel went on and i couldnt shift above 4400 rpms. I reset the ecu 10-15miles down the road and it hasnt come on since (about 40 miles later).

Im going to autozone tonight if I have time to get it checked out. Can they read a cel if I have already cleared it out??

Thanks if you can help me out with some info .

-justin

If you reset it the code will be erased. Next time get it scanned first so you know what the problem is, now you have to wait for it to happen again.

Never had the 02 sensor replaced. I had the recall flash performed on the ecm though.

A guy at work said it sounded like an electrical problem...like a plug wire/plug/coil pack issue.

I dunno what it could be though.

It drove fine today, I guess Ill have to wait till it comes back.

edit: why would it not let me go above 4400rpms though???

I have been told that codes were stored for x amount of time... pepboys does do it for free, so it might just be worth it..ehhh? Thats very odd about the 4400 redline though...

I checked my proecm wiring again and one of the wires just fell off the other when i took the tape off them. I guess that might have been what happened to cause it.

Ill go get it checked, Id still like to know what it was...

thanks,
-justin

no the ecu stores all codes. all that youre doing is clearing the light. When you get it scanned they will be able to choose "trouble codes" and "pending codes". the pending codes are for the one you just reset.

Justin,

I had a similar ocurrence on my crappy RS. Someone (me) did an awful job of crimping the wires from the ECU to the SAFC. The MAP wire came loose and it ran ragged and wouldn't rev. The CEL came on, too. I fixed it with a healthy dose of electrical tape

THANKS!

I actually rechecked my wiring job (friends wiring job) from the ecu to the proecm chip. One was loose (I think). I extended the wires b/c they were tight, and it hasnt happened since.

I love that chip btw...it climbs to redline soo fast in 3rd gear now .

lata man
