I realize the STI is just hitting our shores, but I wonder how long it will be before Subaru actually produces cars from it's new styling team. It would be nice to mate the incredible technology now being offered with new clean sheet styling, for both the Impreza STI and a Legacy STI. The current STI is just a (not very successful IMHO) face lift of the bug-eyed design, and the photos of the STI Legacy are not really very promising either IMHO. I believe that maybe 3 years down the road we could be offered something really extraordinary from Subaru. I like my WRX a lot and I have no problem waiting a few years. I just have this feeling that Subaru styling will take a dramatic turn in the hopefully not too distant future. Am I being realistic?

I agree with you 100%....especially the recent hiring of new European designers... I think Subaru's look will be changing dramatically.

It's also possible we are seeing the last Impreza STI sedan. If Subaru moves to a smaller WRC rally car, we could get an STI street version of that car sooner rather than later. It's hard to believe Subaru will continue with their larger car in WRC if it is not competitive. Perhaps our new STI is only going to be around for a year or two. Then if you wanted a performance 4 door sedan/wagon you would have to opt for a Legacy STI.

Interesting, but almost seems too radical/impractical-more like an Audi TT type of concept. I'm not saying Subaru won't do something like that at some point with their technology, perhaps as a sports/GT car, but I think the STI, whatever it looks like, will likely be based on their future rally car ---maybe a 2 door that is a little more boxy than your concept, with the tons of suspension travel you would need for the rally car, minimal but adequate back seat leg and head room and adequate luggage space.
