Default Cams Install $$$ ?

I was thinking about going turbo, but I think just building a reliable NA car would better suit my needs.

I have been concidering the Cobb Cams, I know I can't do the install, so What kind of money is it going to take to get this thing installed?

Depends on who does it... but it can get up to almost as much as you pay for the cams...

I have heard of people who are friendly w/ their mechanics getting it for like $150...

I think mine were just under $500 to install. I doubt I would do it again. No problems but for $500 you can put in a nitrous kit that will definitely show results. Then again, at least with the cams, your clutch will hold just fine.

Cams are easy to install, you just have to be prepared to have your car down for a while. Oh wait you have a 99, I've never done any engine work on a SOHC, so I can't really say if it's easier than a DOHC, but it shouldn't be too hard. I disassembled my engine and rebuilt it with only average mechanical know how. Cams shouldn't be too hard. just get a service manual, you'll be alright.

You disasembled your engine without taking it off the car? I know for a fact that when you change the timing belt, you need to hoist the engine up since there is no room to work.

Aside, don't you have to adjust the valve angles and pitch?

Just curious as to how you did it?

a SOHC is easier...

get a microfeeler gauge... other than that just make sure the torque settings on the cam journals are EXACT... I've pulled mine a few times while doing headgaskets and whatnot... like 9 said, its pretty easy... of course I pulled my motor at the time... you can pull the motor in about 2hrs if you are good...

No, I pulled my engine too. I just said I'm not a trained mechanic and I thought it was pretty easy, just time comsuming the first time. going back in only took half a day, from empty engine bay to up and running, so not too hard. and also very fun, if you like working on engines that is.
