Default Can you help diagnose a new knocking noise

After having my "Primitive" skidplate on my car for about 2 years, I started getting a knocking noise when sitting at idle. I looked under the car, and sure enough, the oil pan was hitting the skidplate. I did use the included spacers.

I thought: no big deal. Well, yesterday I removed the skidplate, and I STILL have a knocking noise. You can see where the oil pan was hitting the skidplate.

The car has 44,000 miles on it. I only use mobile one oil, and the oil lamp goes out instantly when the car is started.

My guess is the motor or trans mounts. I have not seen this issue on the board.......ever, so I am a little worried.

No engine mods, by the way.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Roy

Did you check all the heatshields on your exhaust? They might be rattling.

It is a low hertz knock, like knocking one knuckle on a hardwood floor. But, thanks for responding

Need more data...

Does it follow the revs, or is it independent of engine RPM?
Engine warm or cold?
Noise comes from front/back, one side, up top, underneath?
Automatic or manual? (don't laugh, ever heard a cracked flex-plate or a loose flex-plate bolt? Sounds really scary).
Any metal shavings in the oil?

seems to follow revs, but quiets as car is rev'd
5 speed
seems to get worse as car warms up
Sound seems to come from underneath
I can feel it in the brake pedal, sitting at idle
have not changed oil to check for shavings

Thanks
Roy
