Question Attn: Luke-Tire size to wheel width rules

Hi Luke,

I poked around your website looking to find rules of thumb used to determine what wheel width will handle what size tire. I purchased SSR GT-1's in 17x7.5", 48mm offset from TireRack a while back for my Subaru SVX (Honda S2000 fitment, I had custom hubcentric rings made). I installed Kumho 712's (225/45-17). I'm wondering what is the acceptable maximum tire width that would fit on these 7.5" wheels as well as how you determine what would work with a wider wheel, 8" and 9"?

Thanks for your help and I apologize if I missed what I'm looing for on your site.

Todd

Not Luke, but I think I can help. If you look at the Spec sheet for a tire it will list the acceptable range of wheel sizes for each tire size. This is pretty much the same across different tires in the same size but there are some differences.

the list you are looking for doesn't really exist but, each tire does have a listing of acceptable wheel widths in the spec section
