Default Borla header + Borla cat-back + Random Tech Cat = Teh sexy noise!

I love the sound! I know others have posted this, but I've never heard one untill I just fired it up. Wow! Boxer heaven baby! I also have Cobb street cams and SAFC (which is pretty much useless with the cams) so I am anxious to see how the top end improved with the added exhaust elements. I had the cat back forever, I just added the header and cat. Of to clean up, then I'm going driving!

Yeah, that is a sweet sounding combo.. I cant wait until I order my headers this week, I've been emailing vendors, but havent received a price quote for the MRT header yet.. You should ditch the S-AFC anyway and wait until Trey finishes work on the Accessflash for 2.5RS's. I have a PROECM chip, and after my headers and spicy cams go on the car, I'm going to get a wideband 02 sensor and a/f gauge and see if it helps it run leaner. If not, I'm ripping it out and getting a Unichip or ECU reflash.

So do you think the Random tech cat is a little loud? I just swapped mine out with the stock cat and man it was too quiet. I have the stromsung though.

Joe - The cams will definitely lean the car out. I was pulling quite a bit of fuel on the top end with the SAFC when I had stock cams. When I installed the Cobb cams, I pretty much zeroed the SAFC out to get my A/F guage back into the first LED in the rich zone. I think I'll keep the SAFC for now. It works very well with the MY99's MAF system.

Poppa - The system is much louder now that I added the header and cat. At least when I jump on the throttle. At cruising speeds the car is just as quiet as before. The header definitely gives the car that boxer burble. I just came back from a meet where I let some people drive it so I got to hear it from the outside as well. I was impressed. It really sounds like a Scoobysport turbo back system on a WRX without the turbo whine. I think I might quiet it down with a resonator though. I'm still debating that one. The vibration is much more intense at high load now that the exhaust pulses are a bit more free. Again that gives it that boxer sound, but also contributes to the vibration under load. Kind of like the way a Harley Davidson does.

Another really loud combination is the MRT Headerback, gutted stock cat, and Magnaflow Performance muffler, and the Cobb CAI. LOUD AS HECK!!!! People can hear me from over 2 blocks away when I really get on it. Great power gains too.

Borlas will definatelly give you a nice rumble. I had the cat-back and the header on my 95 Legacy L. You should've see the way people looked at my car when driving by - and that being a Legacy L

Planing on getting the MRT Headerback system with stock cat and just K&N filter for for my 02RS. Hope that won't be nearly as loud as the Borla system.

Well, I just ordered a set of Borla Headers for 270 shipped last night, so I should have a mean sounding car with my Stromung unresonated catback and cat eliminator pipe

Anyone have any idea how the Borla headers will sound coupled with a custom resonated Stromung midpipe and Stromung muffler? I was thinking about getting headers, but I won't want to if the sound will be unbearable for cruising.

If it's resonated I would imagine it will be pretty mellow. My Borla cat-back is not resonated and it's pretty loud with the headers and cat. I'm thinking about getting a resonator welded in.

Well, I had an unresonated Stromung midpipe until I had my parents take the car to an exhaust shop to get a 12" resonator welded in before the cat. I'm at college right now and don't have access to the car, so I can't exactly say how it sounds right now, but they said it's less harsh than it was.

I'm debating getting the Borlas to add to my high-end power, but I'm still on the fence as to whether they'll really be worth the cash and whether they'll sound too loud.

I have the Borla's and stromung combo on right now with the stock cat and it sounds great. However with the random tech cat it is a little too loud for my taste but then again it was the first series of Random Tech's. Some sounds clips of both for ya..
