Exclamation US Spec STI 0-60 times

I just looked at the new issue of Japanese Power, a European magazine. It stated that their 2.0 liter motor had 300 horse and 300 tourqe. Just like our 2.5, now I know I'm a scuby newbie and all but that just doesn't make sense to me. Oh ya and they stated a 0-60 time of 4.6 seconds. If that is the case our US spec version might be close to Viper performance as far a 0-60 times are concerned.

Can someone please sort this mess out. Thanks.

Just 4 more long and grueling months till my WRB STI arrives!!!!!

Yes the 2.0 sti with the Prodrive Power Pack has 300 hp.
The power is made with a less restrictive exhaust which would not meet the highest clean air emission standards.
That's why their is a semi-aftermarket add-on package, it's a way of dodging emissions laws...quite frankly.
Japan also has weak emission laws but there is an arbitrary agreement to limit horsepower to 276 (talk about stupid regulations- this is exactly the opposite of how you'd want to regulate - ie - regulate emissions....now power!)

A similarly less restrictive exhaust regime would prolly yeild 340 to 350 hp with the 2.5 liter.
