Question Weird Sound From Front End

Well I started to notice this sound about a week ago. While I am driving from about 30 mph or above I hear this whine sound comeing from the front end.

It does not change with the sound from the engine but with the faster the speed. Like the faster I go the louder and faster the sound gets. It does it at all times, (meaning it does it if the clutch is depressed or not, or if I am in gear out nuetral). I cannot figure out where it is comeing from, but it souds like the center of the front of the car..

I have check the cv boots and they both look fine.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be??

Belts? Your bearings might be going bad in your alternator....

It could be a bad wheel bearing possibly, or something rubbing against the wheel or brake rotor. Something like that.

Jack up your front end and try to wiggle the wheel around. There shouldn't really be any play. If there is, its very possibly a bearing.

But then again it could just be tread wear, or something stuck in your tires.

I already checked my tires and found nothing in them. I have not tried to wiggle the wheel though.

It can not be the alt. because the sound does not change with engine revs, but speed. I.E. coasting at 60mph in neutral and still hear the sound plain as day.

Thanks

Wheel bearing most likely. The sound in the cabin can be deceiving for location. Check to see if the noise changes when you take high speed, high load corners. If it does, then it's likely a front bearing. If not, then it's coming from the rear. Check the warranty forum, I think there are few mentions of bum wheel bearings in there.

how much does it cost to have wheel bearings replaced? also, i remember hearing that some people change the bearings from the legacy because theyre stronger? i might be wrong.
