My dealer told me 3600 nationwide. 1800 East Coast and 1800 West Coast.

My dealer has taken 17 orders and are expecting ~8-10 Sti's all year.

How is your dealer managing to get 27 from an allocation of 350 when there are supposedly 500 or so subaru dealerships in the US? They better not be coming from my dealerships allotment mister!

This is some info I found:
----------------------
" Fred Adcock, Subaru of America executive vice president, said U.S. sales of the Impreza WRX STi will begin this summer. The company expects to sell about 300 of the models per month. The manufacturer's suggested retail price will be in the low $30,000s, said Bill Cyphers, vice president of sales. "

Right in line with what the sales manager at the dealership I'm doing business with said. He claims that since they're a small dealership, they are only getting four for the year.

Uhhh... what? So basically you are saying 3600 distributed evenly across the nation, why split it into halves?

There probably going to do what Mitsubishi is doing with the Evo, Build 5000 for the first year, see how they sell, then figure out the demand and build to suit the apetite of how many people are willing to buy one.

If the economy continues to swirl down the crapper and people are buying fewer cars then the car companies (including Subaru) will start making what they can sell. My guess is that Subaru will make their ~4000 cars for the first year and then starting pumping them out faster than babies out of welfare reciepients. The Sti is meant to be an "exclusive" or limited production car, but if Subaru can sell more then they prolly will.
I was at the dealership yesterday looking at an 04 WRX that listed at just under $28,000. Seem a bit steep? This should help keep the demand/ resell value of the Sti rather high... for a while.

This is the same vague crap that the dealers have been feeding us all along! I am going to give my dealer until the 1st of may. If he cannot give me some firm answers on how many he is getting and when my car is getting here screw em. There are several dealers in my area that have evo's on the lot for msrp or below. I am not sure how the auto industry as a hole works in this type of situation (new high demand car) but it does not seem like subaru is doing it correctly.

If a dealer is going to take a deposit for a car and then not be able tell us when the car will arrive or how many they are getting a little over a month before they "say" it is supposed to be here, is extremely aggravating. cuss cuss grumble grumble rant rant......

I imagine they would love to tell you if they knew... assuming you are a potential customer and all. The Mitsu dealers didn;t know when to expect the Evo either, many of them were told it was coming some time last year (At least this is what I was told from a Mitsu dealer I was at on Friday).

Arrow 2 cents...

Was told 6 were coming in by June, then 3 July, then 3 in August according to the Sales Manager... Allocation does depend on the size (most sold) in a particular region by a particular dealer. Those (say) 3rd on a "waiting" list may receive the STi in different months depending on the dealer.
I'm 9th on the "list", but I'm not getting my hopes-up for that July delivery! I am however hoping it will be July. It's all guess work on our end.
