Question '02 WRX suspension on '93 Legacy wagon

My situation: Have '02 WRX wagon (30k miles) and '93 Legacy L wagon (215k miles and needing new struts.)

I'm thinking of acquiring the STI suspension for WRX and hate to have the OEM pieces gather dust in a box in the garage. SO, can I use the strut/spring take-offs from the WRX on the Legacy?

I followed a couple of threads here in the Legacy forum that addressed this question but I confess I am still confused.

Will the '02 WRX struts/springs fit on the '93? If "maybe" what other additional pieces (e.g. top mounts, camber bolts ...) would I have to alter to make this work?

Thanks!

mch.

The WRX suspension is different.....especially in the rear.....you might be able to get the fronts to work.....but I don't know.

I too have a 1993 Legacy Wagon and would like to replace the struts/springs. I just bought stock WRX springs on EBAY without any idea whether they'll fit (only $5 for all 4). So I am also interested in any responses to this post.

I have wrx suspension on my 92 wagon, but I am running coilovers on it so that may be why it works, I believe if you run the FULL setup ( with the wrx upper mounts ) it should work though.

I've put WRX suspension on my 91 Legacy sedan.

I'm using front STi GpN GD top mounts, stock Legacy upper spring perch and spring, USDM GD WRX struts. Rear STi GpN GD top mounts with a DMS GD/GC bolt pattern adapter plate, STi V7 springs, and USDM GD WRX struts.

The top mount bolt pattern in the front of the Legacy is the same as the GD and GC - so no worries there.

The top mount bolt pattern in the rear of the Legacy is the same as the GC - so you'll need to either drill new top mount mounting holes or find/make an adapter plate to change you from the GD bolt pattern to the GC bolt pattern.

If you're using a GD rear top mount, your GD spring will fit in the rear.

If all you purchased was struts/springs, then you'll need a set of front upper spring perches, GD style, to fit the GD spring in the front - the upper spring perch is integral with the rear top mounts, but separate from the front top mounts.

When it's all said and done, I ended up with 0 front camber, and about +0.5 degrees rear camber. I modified the top hole on the strut brackets to allow for more negative camber, and I'm now running about -3.0 front camber and -2.3 rear camber, with a slight bit of toe out at all four corners.

HTH.

Forgive the ignorance, but when you say

what do you mean?

Sorry, I am a little short on knowledge of what a lot of terms (coilover) and abbreviations (JDM, USDM, GD, etc) mean in the posts on this forum. (I wonder if there is a place that lists them where i could catch up?)

I am really just looking for an easy way of replacing the shot struts/springs on my '93 wagon with sportier stuff... and figured WRX stuff fits that bill. Emphasis is on easy though, due to my ignorance/ineptitude when it comes to working on my car. (Hope to improve)

Thanks
