Question Monoblock rims/wheels

I've used the seach button several times but no lcuk. Tried google, alltheweb, ask.com and still no freakin' luck!

Just what in the heck is monoblock rims/wheels? I know forged is the lightest, but is monoblock lighter than cast?

Thank you so much in advance!

This is the only info I could find but it talks about Baer brake calipers:

Quote:
Together, Baer and Alcon have developed a caliper thatís not only lightweight and structurally strong, but also more cost-effective to produce. Normally, racing mono-blocks is extremely expensive, requiring significant machine and material resources.
To apply this on the wheels/rims, it would not only be lightweight and structurally strong...

mono-block is a term used in Europe to describe a 1- piece wheel

Thanks Luke.

That's probably the reason why whenever I search the internet about monoblock, Brabus, AMG, and BMW shows up.

So am I right to assume that monoblock wheels are also lightweight, structurally strong, and inexpensive to produce?

Can you also point out how the process goes? Same as CAST? or Forged? or both?

Thank you Luke.
