Post Primitive Racing skid plate vs Subaru OE plate

<img src=http://www.remarcable.net/misc/legacy_outback/gallery/primvsoeplate.jpg>

I think this pic says it all.

I installed my primitive plate in about 30 minutes by myself and a set of ramps.

$200

The subaru plate cost me $250 from the dealer when I got it with the car. Sigh.

My Subaru plate is for sale btw, for around $50 plus shipping.

How hard is it to change the oil & oil filter with that skid plate. Do you have to remove it?

No need to remove the plate to change the oil. There is a hole in the plate for you to remove the oil filter and access the drain plug.

The Primitve skid plate is WELL worth the money, and I believe right now Paul is offering both the front and rear at a discounted price. I wouldn't want anything else on the underside of my car. Look how puny the Subaru OEM plate is...

I very heartily recommend purchasing from Paul Eklund. Brake pads, skid plates, body kits, whatever he has that you need for your car.... Get it from him.

He is a great guy and always seems to be on top of things. He had my brake pads to me in 3 days from Oregon to South Carolina and the skid plate only took a week or so.

He *is* quite busy though, but despite running a time-consuming business, competing in rallies, and (I'm assuming) leading a personal life, he still manages to put customer satisfaction first.

That being said, yes the subaru OE plate is puny compared to the primitive plate, however it has saved my oil pan from certain doom a number of times and only has a few scratches where the black finish has come off to show for its hard work. I believe it is made out of steel.

I also have the subaru OE rear diff protector, but the only difference between that and the Primitive rear plate is that the Primitive plate is much lighter. On an impreza that might matter, but my legacy wagon? Nah... not worth the money to upgrade. If I had known about Primitive Racing earlier I would have bought both plates they offer instead of the subaru models.
