Default Power

Well the story goes like this. I was driving on a highway type road and was followed by a GSR (integra). I did have 3 people in the car while he had 1. In the higher end he seemed to pull harder than me. Before I continue, my mods include Borla headers, rallispec exhaust and a weapon-r intake with a cold ram air kit. The integra seemed to have some work done to it as well. Overrall though I don't think I would be able to keep up with him. As he and I would drop into a lower gear he would always be able to pull on me. Granted our AWD systems slow us down a bit, is there anything I can do bolt on without working the engine or turning to forced induction in order to free up a little bit more top end power?

I think the two extra people weren't helping you out much, also, our cars are pigs in the wind at higher speeds, or at least that's how it seems to me.

I've ran against a lightly modified GSR and whooped it pretty well, starting from 70 and gaining a car length or more on him by 95, but that was with nobody else in either car. Weight (figure at least 100lbs a person) DOES make a different in your whole weight/horsepower/coefficient of drag equation.

As for wind resistance, the original Road and Track (or maybe it was Car and Driver) did mention that the RS is none too smooth in the wind, and that makes sense considering all the wings, scoops, blocky front end and fog lights, etc. Heck, it's inspired by a rally car, not a LeMans racer. I notice my car seems to pull away from other cars best in 2nd and third, and as it get into the higher end of 4th, I can almost HEAR the wind resistance building. Something slippery like an Integra or Civic won't have that problem.

So pick your races accordingly.

Cobb CAI, Borla catback, tires, strut bar, short throw and 92octane. Also the single point ground mod helped quite a bit.

Trust me the weight dosn't help any. My friend recently got a 01' rs and it's stock but has a act stage 3 clutch with a stock flywheel. I have a short shifter, intake magnicore wires with Denso plugs, and at the time I had my stock exhaust back on. The first couple of races with just the drivers in the car I would pull on him pretty badly. Once he started to get used to the car I would beat him by about 1.5 to 2 car lengths. Then one night he didn't have anyone in his car and I had my friend in my car who is close to 300 lbs. We got to the light and he got a little bit of a jump off the line. I was slowly catching up and passing him and I do mean slowly. By the top of 3rd my side marker was at his front bumper or around there. We then shut down after that. I knew the more weight in your car the slower you go but I didn't think it would have mad that huge of a difference.

If you want more top end, be prepared to give up some low-end torque. Of course, you can spend big $$$$ and make a killer N/A engine. So get a lottery ticket

I have to agree with everyone, our cars are not the most slick when it comes to reducing air drags. Weight is also a negative when it comes to acceleration.

My roommate has a GSR and I have a RS. He kills me on the top end, but I'm better at the twisties and launching from a stop. Thats just the way or cars are designed. At least we got 4-wheel drive.

Do the denso plugs do anything? Also, from what I heard from others when I was thinking of getting magnecor wires is that they are worthless. Would you agree?
