Question Bugeye vs STI

I am first on my dealers list, but am having second thoughts. Is the STI really worth almost twice as much as a 2002 wrx? 16,000+/- vs 31,500+/- Help!!!!

Yes. STI for what it is seems like a great bargain. Supercar performance with great practicality and reliability. If I didn't have a WRX I enjoy, and didn't have another car for the track, I would buy the STI for sure. I guess you are comparing a used '02WRX with the new STI. If you can afford it, I think the STI is worth every cent--it's in a completely different league than the WRX.

This is sooo down to personal preferences that i'm not gonna bother voting. Personally if you're having second thoughts pull out, you'll save yourself a good deal of money!

I wish I could convince myself not to buy one, but alas..

not if you only have 16k to spend.

but, just in case you think it's not a bargin, check out how much other cars with similar performance specs cost. High technology, fast, great handling cars are expensive, and not everyone gets their money's worth going from a 227 sports sedan/wagon to a 300hp monster.

It's ok, whichever camp you're in

I hate to sound like an a$$hole, but if you have to ask yourself this question then its best you step out of line and let someone else get their STi.

The EVO is out there stomping some serious mudholes and its pretty much guaranteed that the STi is faster than the EVO. This will be the greatest car ever made for < $35k. We've all seen the specs (and the SRT smackin' footage); if you still have doubts then don't do it...it's not the car for you then. This is a car for the criminally insane.

I am not trying to ruffle feathers because I know that the STI appears to be the most performance you can get for under 35,000 in a new car. Yes I can afford it, drive it and enjoy it. I just need some advice (those who are in line and ready to jump) if it is twice the car a 2002 WRX is.

It's really tough to legitimately say a car is "twice" another car. Is a 911 turbo twice an M3? both fast and luxurious. Is a 996 twice a 330ci or an STi?

The real question here is...is the STi worth ~7k more MSRP. because that's what the real difference is. If you wait a couple of years, you'll be able to get used STi's also.

Thumbs down

Well Mr. 717, I am glad you are smart enough to draw what you percieve as an IQ chart. I was not looking for flames but it seeem I have found them. I am only posing this as a question as the days come closer. Some may like to give money away very easily, but I work very hard for mine and wanted some opinion to sway me one way or the other. We all want the STI, but only the lucky few will have them. SubEd thank you for helping me make a choice by being so GRAPHic (dumas). Hello STI!
