I seriously doubt that it will be as much as they say-- I think it will be slightly less than a base (for Canada) 350Z, at <$44,500. Any higher, and I agree, it would be ridiculous. My guess is that the prices we are hearing so far are just misinformation. Time will tell, though.

My dealer is very well informed and no price out yet but he told me we will know it very soon. 46000 was the mark but I seriously think it will be 44500 or 45000...

I would suggest then that you do your business elsewhere because your going to be asking for trouble by dealing with a dealer you already know is ???

I agree with you username. and I certainly hope it won't be as much as 48995. Something <45000 sounds a lot more reasonable. And yeah, no H.I.Ds? Thats gotta be the most @#$%ed up thing I've ever heard at 50K+ CDN. Canada always had the worst options on a car, any car.

That, is B.S. There are plenty of cars Canada has been sent that the US was stiffed over. Just a few quick one's....

1] Volvo 850 T / 850 R / V70 / V70R
- Canada gets the 5sp , incredibly rare or not available in the US depending on the model

2] 1995 Corrado VR6
- Canada gets it for one more year than the US

3] Previous Gen M3 & M5
- Canada gets the Euro spec M3 with 285 HP, US gets more restrictive cat convertor good for 230HP
- Canada gets the 6sp 540i, which for all intensive purposes IS an M5 without the badging... straight from BMW themselves

Back to the topic Subaru will shoot themselves in the foot if they price the STi over 45k. Evo will be here soon enough and Mitsu will eat up the price difference easily. 48k becomes BMW territory except for the few which HAVE to own the STi ,its a nice car but not THAT nice.

This time last year the exchange rate was 1.58 which would of put the STI at 50k plus Taxes then. The way the canadian peso keeps jumping around against the US$ I would hate to be a FHI.

FWIW
The first info on the STI for Canada was released to dealers back in September. The price floated around at that meeting then was 45k to 48k. A meeting held in Vancouver in late FEB the price was then rumoured to be between 48K and 52k. SOC and FHI had NOT until then come to an agreement on price for Canada. I don't think its the dealers bumping the price as they know 50K is a real cutoff for many. The G35 Coupe with track pack is $48,500 including delivery and is very pleasant on the eyes and will be a better deal in some peoples minds.(not mine)

A person who knows the price and posts on the Canadian Forums has a signed agreement not to disclose. If you look closely at what is posted in this thread you will get closer to the actual price for Canada.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=347404
Somewhere between 46k and 48k seems to be the number.

I have very good sources so much so that infront of me sits the USDM STI Techical Spec PDF's ie this is the part # for the front axle assembly.

#BJ92+DOJ87 length 314mm

And still I don't know the price.
The dealers that a saying 49k etc are just guessing based on what they were told in FEB which again was 48k to 52k.

Lastly the Aussies are paying 60k with taxes for a STI 2.0 and no DCCD. You do the math and that would be well over 50k Canadian.

The Brits are getting hosed also. Welcome to free enterprize.

I will know more after I attend the STI dealer training day first week of May. 13 more days

My STI was built on 3/3/03

mine this month.. I should receive the serial# very soon. But if the price is up to 47000 or more I would seriously consider buying in USA. BTW some peaple from the subaru club in Montréal state that the STI price will be between 46 and 48K$ at 95%...

I did some cross referencing between the Canadian and American Web sites.V6 VDL Wagon is $32395 US and $43995 Canadian. The price is almost identical to the STI so lets hope $44000 Canadian is the price.I think that price is not to bad.Lets hope with the deletion of HID's and the rising value of the Canadian dollar pushes the price even lower!

Good point. So...

US pricing ratio:

Outback VDC Wagon ($32395) /
Impreza STi ($30995) = 1.045

Canadian price, then:

Outback VDC wagon ($43995) /
ratio (1.045) = $42094 CAD.

That would be pretty sweet. And any more than that, and they will have to have a pretty good explanation :-). Also, it could be less, since the HID's included on the US model are likely more than the Stereo we get. My new prediction (okay, hope): $41,995 CAD.

(BTW, That US price on the STi is official based on this new evidence:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=350359
Not that I doubted the latest rumours, but great to know that it is official!)

Well I'm with all of you hopeing for around $45K. Anything over $46K is pushing it and the $48 to $52K level is silly.

I believe that's Canada's MSRP. Obviously, folks in Canada would prefer to pay less. On the other hand, there is no Mitsu Evo for Canada this year, which translates to :Subaru WRX STi is the only (serious) game in town.

"what it takes is some guy in the states willing to buy it for you and you buy it from him hahehheeh"

Over here in British Columbia (Canada) you pay taxes when you first license your vehicle. That means you pay the duty when you get your plates, not when you make the purchase.

Further, you are required to pay GST, PST, plus an additional importation tax when transferring a car from the US to Canada. Otherwise people would be doing it all the time with certain vehicles.

There is a reason I no longer own my WRX. Importing it back to Canada when I came home was stupidly expensive.

Default Anybody heard of competition?

Why is it that some people believe that Subaru is expected to sell the car at the same price in two completely different markets?! There is no Evo in Canada, so why are they pressured into selling it for the same price as a market with much greater competition?
My most recent experience in this was in the other direction... Comcast bought out AT&T Broadband and raised the rate on my broadband access. "Why?", I asked. According to the article I read in the paper, (and confirmed with their sales department) they raised the rate because our rate was inconsistent with other parts of the country. The result? I am paying $7 a month more for the same service! Maybe SOA should raise the price to match what SOC is charging?!
