Default I wanna Make my car spit FLAMES!!!!!!!

Ok heres what im thinking. I tried to call turboxs today on this but called to late and noone was there. i wanna tune my race maps to get a cool backfire effect and maybe a flame like ya see in japans racing videos, in between shifts. Thinking I would Dump a bunch of fuel at high rpms 0% throttle position. like 6000-7000 rpms. what is everyones feedback? like i said i called the guys at xs allready but noone home so before i did anything i wanna be sure about it. would i ruin gaskets? would the car run bad being rich after a shift drag racing what might happen. would i even be able to cause a backfire on quick shifts or even a flame? would it not work unless i let off and keep out of the gas? id like to try it if someone else has done it and is sure it wont be abusing the car more than i already am..........

Take all the cats out and add an atmospheric BOV - that WILL give you flames!

Worst comes to worst, you can always weld a sparkplug into your exhaust pipe and set it up to run off a switch in the cabin. A friend of mine in highschool had this on his '70 Firebird: kept people from inching up on him at stoplights!!!

Well, if you DO have any cats in, they will soak up that fuel and you won't get any flames. No cats are a must to get the backfire with the flame. And quite a bit of rich running..

Default nice

ok so im running 3 inch turbo back (with cats) im screwed huh? damn it!!!! i was thinking that ill install an hks down pipe when i race anyways so i can use leaded fuel (after i change to catless uppipe). i think i can do it after that. i wonder how well the hks downpipe performs though i payed alot for the down and mid pipes as it is and xcceleration says that it will out perform the turboxs ones so ill have to do the reserch. thanks to everyone for input without flaming me

The TurboXS downpipe is significantly better than the HKS. Just buy a Turbo XS race pipe and go catless.

I spit flames all the time (whenever I want). But I cheat because I run launch control.

Oh, I misunderstood you post that said the HKS was better than the Turbo XS unit.

Yep, I'm one of the lucky few that's been running launch control for almost a month now.

Only mitsubishi's can shoot flames out the exhaust and you have to be runnning lots of nos.

You dont need any of this stuff, just pick up your common Turbo, Import Racer, etc, and turn to the ad with the suicide door hinges, shaved handle kits, etc... and find the one that reads "SHOOT FLAMES UP TO 12 feet" That capability can be yours too for only $39.95

Seriously though, Verdugo was shooting flames before he got his engine management tuned after removing all his cats.

Actually you can cut either fuel or spark. Yes it's new firmware (that's the only way to get launch control) that is being trickled out right now. The controls are slightly different but I don't know what is being released so I don't want to say for sure.

Just don't blow yourself up.

what is the purpose for intentionally making flame out of muffler?

I think you guys watch too much movie like 2 fast 2 furious.

if you call TXS about this they might laugh at you.

my advise is grow up.

I've always wanted flames out of my exhaust ... I think it's cool. I always wanted a fast street car ( already have ), computer in the car ( already have ), and flames ( not WIP but would like to be WIP).

I meant if you don't make it intentionally i think it is ok or don't care.

But making it intentionally looks super RICE and people who do it need grow up.

I emphasize this part

"Don't bring WRX down to the same level as Honda"
