Unhappy Sunroof rattles...HELP?

My sunroof rattles, especially when open. It has gotten worse, to the point I need to fix it. Anyone know how to tighten it, or whatever might help it? (It seems it's just on the driver's side of the sunroof)

Remove the interior trim that supports the headliner. Remove headliner. Remove interior sunroof "headliner. Have a friend drive the vehicle while you look, listen and feel all parts of the sunroof mechanism. If you do not have good hearing, have a friend help do this if ness.

If the rattle is bad enough to irritate you, it should be relatively easy to locate. I pulled the sunroof completely out of my car, and sealed it shut. I did this for more headroom, and to install a functional roof scoop.

Let me know if you need any parts. I saved all the guts of my sunroof. If I can help in any other way, please let me know.

Default Try this simple fix.

I had the same problem...
Here is how I fixed it:

Remove the black plastic tubing that covers the springs in the sunroof mechanism. I unhooked one end of the spring a slid them off and hooked the springs back-up. Be VERY careful if you choose to do this. If you let the spring go it will be extreemly difficult to get it back in place. If you want to be safe, take utility knife and cut the tubing leghthwise and remove it that way. Of course you won't be able to put it back on again, but....

Of course it is possible that you have a different rattle than I had. Try this test first. Put the sunroof in the position that causes it to rattle, then tap the headliner with your finger tips surrounding the sunroof opening. I could produce the rattle in my car by doing that. If you can't then you might have a different rattle alltogther...

Hope this helps

Cheers,
Chad

Ah! So I'm not the only one with a sunroof rattle! It only rattles when it's not fully open, but it's driving me up the wall. Time to see if goobie's fix works...

Thanks guys...I'll try soon, and let you know how it goes. BTW, it rattles at any position, as long as it is open (and you can barely here it when it's closed) Hopefully one of the fixes will work. Thanks again!
