Default When Will Motor Trend/Automobile/Car and Driver/Road and Track REVIEW the STi????

Not that it would influence my decision in any way (my deposit has loooooong been waiting), but I'm so curious to see what the 4 major magazines will say about it, especially compared to the Evo and the close prices.

When, when, when!!!!

I'm guessing all of the May issues have already been sent and delivered. It looks like June will be the month for the road tests.

I woud guess June issues, or whatever issue they put out in May, maybe an October issue the way some of these mags work.

There are reviews of the Euro spec STi8 in Car magazine, Top Gear, and Evo -- all UK mags. Top Gear has a short comparo of the evo 8 vs. STi 8. The general consensus is, as in past models, the Evo has sharper reflexes and "better" handling. The STi in comparison is more relaxed, but sluggish when compared to the evo. Most reviewers preferred the Evo for its adrenaline rush.

Although our STi has the 2.5, the reviewers didn't knock the STi for its lack of speed, so the opinions are still relevant.

Partly, but remember Euro STI has no DCCD, and US EVO has no front dif or AYC.

Yeah I guess the June issues...maybe the May issues?

What sucks is that my Subaru dealer is pretty much clueless on when they're coming in.

"It could be May, it could be September" he says.

Very true. However, I believe that the suspension tuning and over "feel" of the car will remain the same for both cars. The Evo has always been tuned for more of the "handling on rails" feel, whereas the STi will likely feel more tipsy. In any case, well find out shortly enough!

I'm not very active on these forums, but have been lurking for a while.

Anyway, I saw an STI and Evo leaving Summit Point Raceway (WV) last Tuesday as I was on my way in. Since the track photographer didn't grab any pictures (I asked), I'm assuming the cars were there for a magazine review, comparison, or whatever.

The STI looked great in person, though my friend got a better view of it and the Evo than I did. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait until they are at the dealers...

Press embargo ends May 1st, expect reviews in June/July/etc issues..
Look for best review from Automobile Magazine (they rated reg. WRX along with M5 as best sedans penny for penny a few issues back)..
C&D I dont trust...

Well, I've never heard of an STI referred to as tipsy.....reversing the prejorative, it's a bit like saying you expect the STI to be composed and the EVO to have a buckboard ride.

I've heard a guy from is300.net spotted a caravan of imports (including EVO and STi) heading to ButtonWillow (sp?) raceway in Cali. Might be for some magazine comparison test.

Motorweek (the TV show on PBS and Speed channel) often uses Summit Point to film. Maybe it'll be on their show next week!

Unfortunately, their website offers no clues.

Default Edmund's review

Edmunds.com has the STI listed as an "upcoming review." Which probably means they will have something up in early may. Although it's not necessarily an "Enthusiast's site," at least it's something...

You can already bank on positive reviews. I don't there are any bad reviews for any new 'flavor of the month' cars. I'm more curious to what they say in their long term test comments.
