Luke, I was wondering what tire you would recommend for someone who is looking for a quiet tire. I have the Ecsta 712 right now and am interested in the new MX, but I am also a little tired of the road noise so anything is of intereste at this point.
Any recommendations? Thans, -anders

I had the same question and he recomended these: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....Eagle+F1+GS-D3
They are definitly quiet and about 100x better than the 712's I had before... |

as far as a performance tire that is quiet and still performs well the best choice you could make is the Firehawk SZ50 EP .... and the Eagle F1 GS-d3 is also very good but, here is the link to the Firehawk mentioned
just check out the reviews ![]() |

I'll second the vote for the Firestone's. I've had them on my car for over 6k miles and they've been great. Read the reviews, they are an excellent tire. Your only problem is, don't expect to get these for the price of a Kumho,

I probably should have mentioned that I'm looking for 225/45/17s. The Firestones look nice, but I couldn't find them in this size.
I keep hearing good things about the Yokohama AVS ES100 as well, although their noise rating is closer to the Kumhos. The price is better, though. -anders |

you could rune either a 215/45-17 or a 235/45-17 which are the 2 closest sizes for your application

I'm running 215-45-17 Sumitomo HTR+'s and they're very quiet and comfortable (softer sidewalls). But it's an all season, not summer.

I can second the recommendation for the Dunlop 9000. They are a very quiet tire, one that has been called the "grownup performance tire." Noise and ride comfort attributes are top-notch, and I got over 35K miles out of my last set (just got new ones).

I'm also running SP9000's (at Luke's recommendation), in the stock size, which may make a difference, I don't know. I also find them to be quiet enough that I never think about tire noise. Then again, I was all set to buy a set of Yokohama A520s until I was persuaded that the noise might be a bit much, so maybe I'm not very in tune with the whole tire noise thing.
As for the SP9000s, I've been very happy. They have good grip, and are excellent in the rain. |

Luke-
What are your thoughts on the Yokohama AVS dB S2? There aren't many posts yet on TR. Looking for a quiet tire like some of the gang here, but also looking for a decent all season tire. Greg |

a couple added questions in this thread ... when will you guys learn ...... new question = new thread .....
205/50-16 Pilot Primacy P-Zero Nero Sport 9000 AVS DB Series II very quiet but, lacking good steering response unless over inflated which will cause irregular wear and noise issues. Overall a good tire for the average driver that is not to concerned with aggressive performance |
