Question 2002 OBS vs. 2001?

I was just getting ready to buy a 2001 Outback Sport when I realized that they are some changes for 2002. Are there many significant changes to the 2002 model? Does anyone know where I can find specs for the 2002?

Why do people still say "JUST GET THE WRX!"? Many cannot afford a WRX, others do not want the insurance expense, some don't want 4 doors, etc. Just because the WRX is right for you doesn't mean anyone else should buy it.

Sorry, just getting sick of seeing "JUST GET A WRX!" like it's just that simple. Like somebody is gonna change their mind from just that anyway.

He asked about the OBS, if he wanted a WRX he would have asked about it.

Exactly...I don't want a 4-dr and I don't want a sports car per say. I want an OBS which is exactly what I'm looking for in a car...for me that is.

But, if there is some more HP available in the 2002 why not wait a month or two and get it? Thatís the spot Iím in now. The extra HP is worth waiting for by itself but Iím wondering if there are other changes that will allow me to justify the extra $$$.

I'm no OBS expert, but I'm 99% sure that the MY01 had the 2.2 litre (same as L). The MY02 non-WRX cars (RS, TS Wagon, OBS) all have the 2.5 litre standard. So I think the answer is yes, the MY02 OBS has more standard power than the MY01 OBS. And of course there's the new look

I'll tell you what I told the other guy looking at the OBS: go to yahoo.com, click on clubs and type in outback sport. The outback sport club is there and some of the members race, etc., and are VERY knowledgable about this car. You can archive past posts, and they have talked at length about cost, spec differences, etc., everything you'd want to know about all the models.

I hate to say it but you're never ever ever going to find an OBS that isn't 4 doors...

I own a MY00 OBS and am very happy with it.

Differences between 01 and 02 that I can see:

Body style change. (obviously) the 02 looks more like a Mini Legacy Outback IMHO. You get the fog lights, but lose the hood scoop.

01 = 2.2 02 = 2.5

Better interior in 02?

Hope this helps
