Default Canadian MSRP for 2004 STi Announced.

SOC has announced the MSRP for Canada.

It will sell for C$46,995.

US MSRP is $30,995.

So they used a factor of 1.516.

Sounds pretty good, I was expected it will go up more than 50k MSRP. HaHa I guess everyone who ordered STi can get their cars soon.

Yup.

First batch of 30 would be here mid-late May,

Next batch of 60+ in June.

This was what I was told.

FYI: As most of us know that Canadian STi does not have HID, but we do get something that is not standard for US STi. We get stereo systems, heated seat, alarm system, "pass-thu" from trunk to rear passnger seats, these are standard for Canadian STi.

I know some of us rather get the HID than these accessories

I'd rather have those accessories than HID's. I know they look cool and can blind the on coming traffic but having a stereo and heated seats seem a little more practical for me.

That seems too expensive for me. Cars are usually quite a bit cheaper here, so I am surprised. While I think that is a good price considering the value, I think the market will only buy so many at that price, and after the initial thrill wears off they will either have to discount them or offer some extras, like HID's redesigned for DRL, or maybe a PPP... :-).

Oh well, I know I can't afford it for at least a year, so I will have to wait and see. In the meantime I will just be jealous of all the people who can get them now :-).

We always do, but usually we get a better deal than the US as well.

MSRP comparisons (these vehicles aren't necessarily competitors, but could conceivably be on the same shopping list)...

Nissan 350Z Performance (base) model: $44,900
Nissan 350Z Track model: $46,500
Infiniti G35 Coupe 6-speed base: $47,000

Mazda RX-8 GS model: $36,795
Mazda RX-8 GT model: $39,595

Honda S2000: $48,600

Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Coupe: $46,395

To be honest, I was expecting the STI to be closer to the base 350Z MSRP.

With the price of the new RX 8 being only 36.8G (36.8G is a lot of $$ but compared to range we are talking of 45+G), I believe I sould be seeing a large number of them on the road soon.

I highly doubt that someone with the intention to buy a STi / S2000 / RX8 / 350Z would consider a Mustang SVT. They target 2 very different groups of customers IMHO.

Sort of, but not really. I wouldn't say that the STi's shoppers is really any more similar to that of the S2k's than a Cobra to S2k, unless you count wanting an import a similarity. Believe it or not, the drag racers don't want the '03 Cobra

Yup that is true.

However I did considered a S2k with Vortech SC. But decided aghainst it cause it would be too troublesome and it is quite sinful to tear up a brand new 50K car to perform major mods.
