Default Rear Bracket Comparison

Here's the reason why you really need reinforced rear brackets instead of going with the stock ones when using a larger aftermarket rear sway bar.

Does Hotchkis make a linear high-rate spring set for the GD body style that maintains a more proper ride height (keeps the rear lower)?

- www.j-spectuning.com/suspension = Invalid page.

- Almost everyone has rear endlinks already. Please consider talking to Hotchkiss about getting the front endlinks separately or please consider selling them separately. There's no reason they need to be sold as F + R for $220.

- Can you please take a picture of the "inner" (under) side of the heavy duty rear swaybar mounts? Preferable from 8 inches away and not 3 feet

Ouch. The stock bracket looks like it takes a beating. Wouldn't you need reinforced brackets for the front as well?

Austin - The spring setup has been tested by Hotchkis extensively on the track and has performed very well. I have Eibach's on mine and will be switching to the Hotchkis after seeing and driving a WRX that had this on. There will be a Competition Coil Spring set made by Hotchkis but I do not have the specs on those yet.

jblaine - Link fixed, thanks for the heads up. As for the end-links, we only have the F+R available from Hotchkis at this time but have relayed your message about selling them separately. And the pics you requested is attached to this post.

wrxified - I believe Hotchkis developed these rear support brackets based on field experience of lots of rear OEM support bracket breakage but very little front bracket breakage. I personally broke three ( two rights and one left) OEM rear support brackets and no front ones.

Can you tell me the difference between the sport swaybars(hollow), and the comp. sway bars. Are the Comp bars 1" solid. Pleeaassee say yes.

Hey Thaison. Expanding your offerings again I see - bump.

Unfortunately I already got the 20mm sedan rear sway bar on its way - going to see how I like that with stiffer spring rates first.

Interesting shape on the rear endlinks. Any purpose to that shape as far as different leverage goes? What about the grease fittings? Seems they would be tighter than the usual bushings. Not sure I would say that everyone has these if there are some design benefits. The kit is exactly how I would want them.

I notice the mounts have those grease fittings as well. How do these compare to Group N's?

What is the recommended maintenance interval on the grease - every time I take out another Aussie equipped Subie?

You have e-mail.

neverendingmods - The difference between Sport and street is the inclusion of the competition end links with the sway bar set. The 1" bar is hollow but the performance is incredible - first hand experience and the Hotchkis track numbers

jehcpa - Lots of questions, I need to do some research and get back to you.

jblaine - thanks for your order, your package has been shipped.

Will these fit the wagon front sway bar and 20mm sedan rear sway bar? End Link Set...$220 I assume they will.

My guess is the bushings are made for the Hotchkis sway bar on these - Reinforced Rear Mounts...$90? If that is the case will the stock bushing bracket fit on the mounts? Would you consider selling the mounts without the bushings?

jehcpa,
The end-links will fit the wagon and any aftermarket sway bar you have.

Due to the design of the reinforced rear mounts, you will need the bushings that come with it. The Hotchkis bushings attach to the reinforced rear mounts via two bolts. Aftermarket/Subaru Bushings attach to the OEM rear mounts via one metal tab and one bolt. I was informed that the bushings will work on your 20mm rear sway bars as well as the Hotchkis sway bars.
Thanks,
Thaison

Bump for more questions.

What are the spring rates on those springs? (If they will disclose)

What is the expected drop on a wagon? (assume those are sedan drop measurements)

Is the wagon still expected to be able to tow within stock specs? (2,000 lbs and 200 lbs tongue weight)

Is it expected that the stock struts will dampen the drop adequately?

I have tracking for Friday on the end links and rear mounts.

Sorry for so many questions - looking at springs to tide me over until I can stomach a set of coilovers.

Ed.

jehcpa - Spring spec's
Front: 230 lbs/in.
Rear : 146 lbs/in.
Progressive rate

Was told that the drop on wagons would be same as sedans. Does work with the stock struts though will be carrying aftermarket ones soon...

Still looking for an answer on the tow question - you come up with some good ones...

WRXWES - answer above.

Default Reinforced rear mounts & endlinks

On a 2003 wagon with 02 sedan sway bar.

Have to use the 20mm bushings rather than the Hotchkis ones, not a perfect fit for the mounts but very close and functional except you can't use Hotchkis' grease fittings since the bushing is not designed for it.

J-Spec - if Hotchkis does make 20mm bushings that work with the grease fittings later - shoot me over a set!

Also for the end links what is the recommend grease for the fittings - just normal bearing/joint grease?

Thanks J-Spec, good stuff here.
