Default BMW 740 IL shark fin antenna

Anyone know if this antenna is for GPS only or can it be used for regular radio? I got my antenna shaved and am currently running an antenna in my rear spoiler. I'll be getting rid of my spoiler later this summer, hence the need for a new antenna.

I had thought the same thing after the 7 came out but after talking to some BMW guys I heard it's only for cell phones or gps and that it won't work for radio. That's the only thing I have heard from 2 different people let me know if you get one and it works though, I think it would look badass on my black wrex. Later.

How do you have your antenna run in your spoiler? I have a wagon and am getting ready to have the stock one shaved and install a fuba antenna (sitting in garage now). The fuba wire is a bit longer than I wanted looks wise, other stealth options are welcomed.

My 99 RS spoiler is hollow so I just bought one of those window antennas from RadioShack and threaded it through the spoiler. Works great but I want to get rid of the spoiler later on. The BMW and Audi antennas (the stubby type) look cool but I don't know if they can be used for regular radio.
