Default STi OEM Wheels

Does anybody have any guesses or ideas on how much can I expect to get if I sell the OEM BBS STi wheels that come with the car? Will colour matter?
I've seen other forums pointing out that they are $800 new a piece. If they are taken off the car ASAP after purchase, how much can I get for them?

Exeter Subaru is selling them for $2800 for a new set of gold or silver. That said, don't expect to get quite so much even if they've only seen a couple miles. What, dare I ask, would you replace them with?

I haven't finalized my new wheels yet, but I want something dark (i.e. gunmetal or bronze coloured). I'm getting a black STi and it's coming with Silver wheels, but I think the silver is too bright for the black car so that's why I want to switch the wheels.
Perhaps a Volk TE-37 in bronze or the SSR Competitions in gunmetal/anthracite.
What do you guys think?

How about powder coating or painting the rims you have?

I never really thought of that. I live in a smaller sized city. What kind of place would offer that kind of service? And what kind of cost is associated with it?

Thanks for the info.

I second powdercoating. I have heard from 50-100 per wheel. Those are some nice light BBSs in correct offset. I'd explore my options before parting with them.

I disagree. Assuming you can sell the STi takeoffs for $500/ea. there are lots of really nice replacements out there for that kind on money. Powdercoating them would ruin any value they had. (plus I think those STi/BBS wheels are ugly)

I'm not crazy about the wheel looks either. I guess I'll wait till I get my car to decide if I want to keep them or not. They are growing on me...

The STi may have collector value 20 years from now. In that case, not having the original wheels will be a BIG detriment to its valuation in the collector market.

I know Japanese cars are not generally thought of in this way, but it could happen...

Why not bag them for the future?
