Default Intake Only=Rice???

I know that if you do exhaust, headers, etc. that an intake is an important step in the upgrade. My question is do you think adding only an intake and not doing anything else to the engine, should be considered rice?

Of course not. Intakes provide more power than an exhaust and you might not want the increase exhaust level with an aftermarket cat-back. I think that any product that is proven to make power is definately not "rice." Go for it, I can tell you that the sound of these engines screaming through that tube is wicked, almost as addicting as a nice open exhaust!

Thats what I thought...it was just something I thought of and had to ask. So many people have one that it wouldn't be rice

p.s. I plan on getting one in the next couple weeks....specifically a Ganzflow

price is the main reason I am getting the Ganzflow. I am pretty sure that the price is only $110 shipped. I also like keeping the stock air box. The Cobb is so much more expensive and I just don't have this kind of money right now.

I have a Cobb on my 00 RS and the sound it makes at WOT absolutely rules!

Intakes do not equal rice in my opinion...

I just put my cobb on my OBS tonight....holy cow it that thing nice at WOT!!! Best money spent so far! Just don't tell my wife that... I waited awhile and saved up for my cobb...If I had to chose...I'd wait again and still get the cobb!

intakes are certainly not rice, they give noticable power gains, at least the one ive experienced...
cobb. This was the first power mod i did, as is the path most people take. It all adds up.

yes intakes are rice.

you should invest your money in something more useful like decals or misc. LEDs.

Default cheaper than ganzflo

guys, pdm-racing.com has what looks like a very similar intake than the ganzflo, but at half the price.

Since the ganzflo is just a pipe (I sold mine a while back) why not pay $50 less for an almost identical pipe. Its literally a pipe that feeds into your fender well and to the airbox.

Both the pdm and ganzflo look nearly identical.
check it out (scroll almost all the way down, and you can see it looks almost identical to the ganzflo) I had a ganzflo, and if I could do it over again, i woudl have got the pdm and an K&N drop in and still have some money left over. They are both just pipes!!

yeah, you've got a point there, and i bet you could just add the stage 2 ganz flo stuff to that pdm as well.

but thanks for that link, i've been looking for a potential front sway bar for a few weeks now with no luck, finally found one

I've been tuning my TS at Home Depot for some time now. as far as intakes go, you can get 80-90% the performance of a "real" intake with 20 bucks worth of home depot parts. it's all dependant on your budget.
