I was just wondering if people might want to start a thread, listing all the current and future planned mods on their OBs? Just so people can see what's been done, what can be done, get some inspiration, or just drool.

You should include:

Just thought I'd bump this thread to the top again. Keep posting, I'm sure there're more people out there with modded OBs, right??

And what's this 4 point ground mod about? I'm curious...

basically, the stock subaru chassis ground is *really* poor.
Enough so that you get hesitation, light dimming during normal situations, etc.

By grounding points on the car to the negative battery terminal. you can utilize the superior ground fo that cable to eartht he car more completely.
The intake manifold seems to make the most difference, before/after; I just got a bunch of ring terminals, and bolted them in under the brackets that hold the sparkplug wires (did one on each side of the manifold, not that it makes much difference; I put one on one of the factory ground points on the left shock tower, and one to another ground point I can't recall right now

Got rid of mid-RPM hesitation '(which had become more apparent after an intake), my lights are brighter, and the car turns over quicker; this on a car with 130k miles on it, so some of it may have helped with degraded systems.

sorry if this sounds ignorant... but would static electricity be another sympton of the poor grounding? i notice i always have a small static electric shock after driving my car, getting out, and touching something metal (like a mail box).

i am just curious if that is typical of other Subys or maybe just mine. i never had that issue in my previous Audi's that I owned, but i did have that in an old '90 Toyota Corrolla. Do you think the grounding mod would help this "feature"?

What kind of seats do you have?

Just curious, because I don't have the static problem in my OB (leather) but do in the TS (cloth). I think it would be static from the seat materials, not any grounding issue. Any other ideas?

now that you mention it, my Subie does have cloth seats. my old Toyota also had cloth seats too. my Audi S4 and my Audi A4 both had leather seats and no static issues....

i definitely see a trend here.... i just never thought about that.

Yeah, I've got leather, so I couldn't say whether it helped. Some WRX guys have reported that it does reduce/eliminate the effect, however......

Regardless of your seats (cloth, leather, or heated), the stock grounds are weak.

I did notice on an '03 Outback the grounds look much better, perhaps due to all of the input they have recieved...

Maybe if someone posted how to do the grounding mod, you could make it a sticky? Just a suggestion. I know I sure want to know how to do one now!!

I am busy tonight but I will post directions on doing this tommorrow night. It is a very easy mod. once you have all of the materials it takes about an hour to do. It works too

Just thought I'd bump this to the top, since I've had my brakes upgraded, and changed some other future upgrade plans... Opie, any chance you might want to sticky this, as a constant reference? I'm thinking that other OB owners who're planning on mods can check it, see who's done what, and find out more from those guys specifically.

Replace headlight harness and get brighter bulbs?
