re-92's can be had very cheaply and fit quite nicely on stock rims.

How cheap is cheap? Cheap period? Or cheap performance?

I'll assume you want performance because you're here:

You can get a Max performance tire in the stock size for as little as $85 / tire.

The Dunlop SP9000 is on special right now at TireRack for that price. They're actually what I'm running right now on my stock rims too. They're not the most grippy Max performance out there in the dry, but the pretty much spank all other Max performance tires in the rain.

The Kumo Ecsta MX is $90/tire for the stock size, which from most accounts is a pretty great tire performance bargain too.

Note: neither of these is a good choice if you need all-season capabilities.

I am looking for some sort of a preformance tire. Under $90 would be a great thing. I am looking for the best preformance tire to put on my stock rims. I posted in the RMIC and asked about Kumho Ecsata 712's and was told the side wall is a little on the soft side. Just looking for a good preformance tire for a stock rim.

I've never driven on the 712's, but I've heard that as well. If it's soft on the 17" tire, I can't imagine it'd be better in 16".

I'd take a look at the Dunlops (SP9000); at $85/tire (on sale right now), you're not going to get much cheaper for a "max performance" classed tire.

If you don't care about wet traction, another option would be the Falken Azenis, they come in a stock size; don't let the "V" speed rating fool you, these things are apparently sticky as hell, and there about $80/tire... I wouldn't trust them in the rain though.

May I suggest Falken Azenis Sport? They're undirectional tires that really gripps. For the money u can't get better grip than the Azenis if u looking for decent tires but don't wanna shear too much blood. One of the down side tho, is that the Azenis's tread wear is rate at 200 and they're definitely not all season tire. I have a set put on last week and the rex handle so much better than before with the stock re92s! The traction on those seems to be quite good in rain too. Go to falkentires.com and check em out. Hope that help. Late.

I am in the same boat as jetsiphon but want to go a little wider on tires. What do you guys recomend??

Rigth now I am between Ecsta Supra 712 vs. Yokohama AVS ES100.

I am willing to spend about $90.
