Post AEM Intake for my GC8

I was wondering if there was anyone out there who could help me out. I bought a short ram intake for my GC8 about a year and a half ago, and here in San Diego, the cops are really looking out for any modded cars, and giving out heavy fines for it, unless of course your stuff is carb legal.
Well, my cousin, who's a cop told me that as long as my intake has a carb number bolted on it, I should be fine. But the thing is, I never got a carb number or sticker when I bought my intake.

Is there any way I can get one now? Is AEM even a carb legal brand? I really don't want to take off my Intake and put my stock one back on...

I couldn't find anything on their website if the intake is carb legal. Try giving them a call

How is the SDPD going about checking modified cars, checkpoints?

Jay,
Yea, they are setting up surprise checkpoints everywhere and pulling over cars with mods like a modified exhaust and stuff...By the way, thanks for the info, I'll give them a call.

My best advice is to move, CA seems like it sucks. Mysecond best advice would be to throw away the AEM intake and buy a Cobb or Gravelsports intake.

Default Don't Fret

I drive by them(cops=donuts) daily(94,8,5) and believe they don't have a clue about the car(I've seen about 10 GC8's in 1.5yrs). I've been tailed once because I was passing others but saw them entering and cutting over 3 lanes and trying to pace me but waited and changed lanes as they pulled up.

Anyway, it's the decals, buzzing exhaust, low profile, bling bling, cheesy body kits, traffic weaving, etc. This is what they mostly look for(70% Honda and divide the rest).

Remember that they can't inspect anything that isn't exposed without you agreeing. Don't open your hood nor trunk;they'll bs you but don't. If you drive lawfully they have no reason.

My foot is heavy and I live in the passing lane so I get to see their hangouts which they mainly use IMO for quotas or frequented areas of street racers and peak traffic times.

Just drive safely

Gotta love the Peoples Republic of California . Be careful if you do get stopped, the police require probable cause to search anything (vehicle, residence, etc). Also, you may want to consider changing the filter (not the whole CAI) as it is my understanding that the filter is the only "emissions device" in question. Grab a K&N and you should be golden.

Last time I called them in January, the AEM for '00 and '01 still wasn't carb certified. It's been pending for a long time now.
