Default Lotus Exige Sighting!

Slack and I had just hopped on the freeway to see X2, and whada know, a lotus exige in lava orange goes rolling past headed northbound on I-43.

My heart jumped a mile! This is my favorite lotus as for i'm extreamly pissed it's not comming to the US. So, i've settled for the V8 Espirit instead (a nice used one, there is no way i'd be able to fork over 90 grand for a new one) because I don't think i'll be moving to Europe anytime soon to own one.

I am wondering where it was headed though, seeing they are only for track use here, and nothing is happening at Road America, not posted anyway.

ohhh what sweet lushious candy, gimme gimme gimmeeeee!

Sure it wasn't an Elise, which is somewhat slower and more readily available than an Exige? There is a BMW track event at RA this weekend so I wouldn't be surprised if he was going up for that.

BTW they are going to sell Elises in the US next year.

Positive, it had the full hard top enclosed with the windows on the back and the spoiler. Besides, you can't get an elise in orange. i've looked for one, couldn't find an orange elise at any dealers. Only the Exige.

I know about the elise sales in the us, although not my pick for the lotus brand. They haven't even decided on an engine yet.

Why so fixated on the Exige, but complely blow off an Elise? It's basically a hardtop Elise with go-fast bits (i.e. STi vs. the WRX). Except the Exige is far more compromised for a road going car (cramped hot cockpit, poor window seals, absolutely no storage).

Regardless, you'll be smacking your head against the wall in mid-2004 when folks start rollin' around in their USDM Elise (with an engine likely overpowering the Euro Exige) if you go w/ a 1990 Esprit.

Well i'm a small women with expensive tastes, i know the exige and the elise are basicaly the same, just like the look of the exige more.

I did want an elise, but changed my mind and now i'm savin for the espirit. wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of those 340r's either. hell i'd take any lotus i could get. I was just so thrilled to acually see one!

haha...See what a monster I've created?? I wouldn't mind having any Lotus, but I'd prefer an Elise with my engine of choosing.

The Espirt is a dinosaur its scheduled to be discontinued within the next few years and replaced with something code named the M250. It was supposed to be a done deal already but lotus got scared with the sagging economy in the U.S. Thats what I read in EVO anyway.

M250

A dinosaur the Espirit may be, but its still stunning nonetheless. It was absolutely stunning in person when I saw it at the Chicago auto show. I wish I could have sat in it.

Although it will be discontinued, the M250 will not replace it..supposidly the project got canned.
