Default ProECM Powerchip

Questions about ProECM Powerchip
where to find it?
how much?
is it worth installing, i mean are there any noticable differences before and after?
are there better alternatives?

thanks

www.imprezars.com ~$260 shipped

Larry is a great guy and has been selling the ProECM for a while...

I have had one for about a year and a half and I love it... Made the car feel better... don't know how much gain I got, but I wouldn't trade it for anything but a turbo... It also improves your milage if you drive tame... the only drawback is you need to run the highest octane you can to get the best results... But hey, 15 cents a gallon hasn't broken me yet and it's worth the extra pull...

Lots of folks will flame the ProECM, but very few that have owned them didn't like them. The few of them I have seen have been auto trannies iirc...

Really?

I didn't notice that. I was under the impression that the ProECM should work as well for the AT as the MT.

Yeah. I give a thumbs down to it on an auto tranny. I felt nothing. I followed all the instructions and it was installed properlly and checked on by a local tuner. Still felt nothing just a few bucks less in my pocket

My biggest gripe are the CEL's....They just won't go away, even if I ground the chip straight to the ECU. It sure bumped my mileage up by 3mpg.

Try private sales section. There were couple used ProECM chips available not long ago.

For me, $260 is kinda pricey althought the chip is been performing pretty good for my subbie-fixing hesitation problem, pull harder at higher rpm and better mpg when you drive ur sub kindly

Oh one more thing, I suggest you install it after ur warranty expires. Good luck!

Has anyone installed this on other Subarus? Ex: XT6? What is your opinion on it?

CELs... I've never had any that I could trace to the chip... hmm... do you have a 00-01? They seem to throw CELs a bit more methinks...

Lol..i havnt seen a problem yet reguardless... I still run at 87 octane...so I dont really know what 92 feels like...tho there was a 1-2mpg bump in fuel economy.
