Recently I have convinced myself that my MY98 and its gold rims (with the ongoing evolution of the Impreza) will eventualy be considered the "classic" form of the RS/WRX. Granted, gold rims dont work on every car, sometimes even cheapening the appearance, but on the RS its like it belongs, like a thumbprint on a finger. I think they look great and wouldnt trade them for anything besides, what other car (comparibly with taste and function) would have the balls to wear them in public?

Is that a wagon spoiler over your rear window N.Ursalia? How is that rear wiper mod coming along too?

Gold wheels look great on the Impreza, but not on every car. I'd rather sport goldies than chromies, that's for sure.

THese are all opinions, and here's mine. I think gold rims look really good on certain cars, most scoobies (including Legacies!) are included... I don't think it ever looks "ricish", but sometimes it might be a bit curryish.

Any idea where I can find a set of the 98 Rims for a reasonable price? Does the Tire Rack carry them (gold knock-off's)?

I guess there was a time when gold wheels meant gold-anodized racing wheels. That time is long past. Nowadays, wheels are painted gold and that is cheesy, in the same way that functionless rear spoilers and hood scoops are cheesy.

I was just wondering what years the gold rims came on. You all mention the 98, is that the only year you could get gold rims on?

Yes that's correct, 1998 was the only year the RS came with gold rims from the factory.

Aquired taste maybe ?
I love gold wheels.. I'd put them on any car, given that I find the right looking ones. Skylines with gold wheels are hella mean ![]() I dig the japanese drifter's "I don't care about look" styling, ie. old school Toyota Chaser with purple paint and gold wheels, now that's classic ![]() |
