Default Gremlins visit after fog mod

A few days ago I finally got around to doing the foglight mod. I followed the directions that are posted on scoobymods.com. I carefully checked my work over a few times, making sure I tapped the right wires, etc. Everything checked out ok. For two days all was well, lights worked as advertised. However, today the little electrical gremlins came for a visit. When I went to my car in the morning, the first thing I noticed was that the keyless entry/alarm was not working. I opened the door with the key and I noticed that the dome light wasn't working. The maplights and radio were also not working. However, the car started right up and all the exterior lights worked, including the fogs. Also, the tripmeter had reset to 0. Then, all the sudden, the radio and interior lights came on. All radio stations were reset to default 87.9 or whatever. So, I guess they lost power some how. I drove to work (45 min) without incident. I was hoping that the problem fixed itself. This wouldn't be the case.

After work, the same thing - no keyless entry/alarm, lights, radio, etc. I just decided to head home. A few minutes into the drive, the problem seemed to fix itself again. Though, after a few more minutes of driving, my ABS light came on and my security light started flashing. I pulled over and turned the car off then on. The ABS and security lights went off at this point. When I pulled into my parking spot at home, I noticed that the security light started flashing. I turned my car off and on a few times and the light finally stopped blinking. After exiting the vehicle, the alarm was successfully armed. I guess I will see how things are in the morning.

Has anyone had this or something similar happen after the foglight mod? Any ideas what might be the culprit? I don't have much time to poke around under the dash until this weekend. At least the car starts and runs fine. I am just a little concerned about the alarm not functioning over night.

Hmm, I think the problem relates to a faulty Nordskog digital clock. I was using one of their clocks to fill an empty space in my gauge housing. When I went to check on my car last night, I noticed that there was a part of the clock's LED that was on. Nothing on the clock should be lit up when the car is off. I had to disconnect the clock for the light to go out. I left it disconnected over night and there was no problems with my car this morning. The clock has been in the car for over a year without problem. I'll keep it disconnected for a few days to see what happens

Sounds to me like an intermittent short or ineffectual ground somewhere.....I'd be double-checking EVERYWHERE you touched when you did the mod. In fact, do the mod again exactly as before but in "ghost" mode...in other words retrace your steps...

Everything has been ok since disconnecting the gauge/clock. I will still recheck all the wires that I touched for the fog mod this weekend. It does seem strange that a faulty gauge could cause this wierdness. It could be a combination of things.
