Reports from the STi information forum is that the exhaust looks like it's the same as 02-03. Likely all segments are interchangable, including the uppipe.

Nobody really knows for sure until someone tries though.

Does the USDM STi have a cat in the up pipe?

Doesn't the STi have twin scroll? Different shape to attach to the Turbo.

how does that work, that doesn't seem like something government emissions would allow, but if so I WANTY!!

It's all relative; if the engine runs clean enough without the uppipe catalyst, there is no regulation that says it needs to be there.

AVCS = cleaner burning on cold start and at low RPM = no need for uppipe cat.

At least that is my understanding.

I think that A-REX meant that there is no uppipe cat not that the STi has no cats at all.

I heard the US Turbo Forester will ALSO use a catless uppipe and AVCS. So it won't just be an STi uppipe. In fact, the WRX appears to be the only model with a cat there.

Yea it's kinda silly for Subaru to put an extra cat in its most modified model. If it really wanted better emmisions, putting it in the legacy or forrester would have produced a longer lasting result.

I was just reading something about the twinscroll turbo's - must have been for something else. I'm just confused.
