Woah, woah, woah! That might be the most rediculous thing I have ever read on this website. Don't get me wrong, the lightweight bumper beam is much less substantial than the USDM 5mph bumper. However, to say that you'll more than likely die if you get in a wreck, just because of that bumper is laughable.

Don't you think that cutting the stock bumper beam reduces it's crash worthiness? It absolutely does. Which is more crash worthy, a cut USDM one or an un-touched JDM? I don't know. No one does, at least I've never seen any crash data comparing the two.

Buy a lightweight beam or cut the stock. Just understand that whichever route you choose, you are reducing the crash worthiness of the car. But to say one is safer than the other presumes a lot.

The bumper has nothing to do with the crash worthiness of the car in a serious (>20mph) collision. At those speeds, it's all up to the crumple zones. The bumper beam is there for the 5mph accidents so that the whole bumper and front end isn't totalled.

um no

the light wight is not a JDM bumper .. it is a competition piece to hold the bumper cover in place

the light weight is 1/32 stamped steel weighs nothing, zero structial strength

there is yet another bumper out there (jdm/edm) that is in between the light weight and the usdm

half the usdm bumper is > the light weight and cheeper

i hve a LW beam sitting next to me now ( im waiting for my bumper to get back from the shop ) its light it really is, am i scared to put it on ....a little considering i could bend it out of shape with my own two arms ( and im not built at all ) so that gives you an idea of what your losing, dont hack your stock one, what happens if you need it later you have it hacked the LW is only $80shipped , so buy it and at least you have a stock one incase
