Default Umm. No airbox on my new 2.5...

So I just got home with my new 2000 2.5rs. The tube that goes from the airfilter toward the front of the car doesnt have anything attached. Whats up witht hat?!?! I assume thats NOT how it should be. What part do I need? If I'm buying a CAI should i just do thatnow and not worry about getting the OEM part (since it wouldnt be needed i assume?) Whats the CAI that doesnt trip the CEL? Thanks

gotta start posting in the correct forums now

moved for you..

to answer your question, no you dont need the part, dont worry about if your going to get a CAI, as long as the filter box is there and there is a filter in it.

a picture would help though just to be sure we are on the same page.

Is the entire assembly removed or just the previous CAI? Anyway you can search for either in the "for sale" area. Also, the Cobb, Ganz or PDM CAI should suit your needs.

what he is saying is that he has the stock airbox, just the tubing (silencer and other crap) is gone.

Just buy a ganz flow, IF the elbow coming off the airbox is still there, if it isnt, then you gotta get an Injen, Cobb, or any other throttle body mounted CAI.

whoever owned it did the silencer removal but didnt put the panel filter back on...why you wouldnt im not sure, that seems kinda dumb to me. sucking in all that hot engine air?
you should get the filter box back from the seller, you own it. Do you leave your vent covers on? id imagine theyd help get more cold air to that tube...but hope its not raining!

In a my00 there was no filter box there... the filter is right before the throttle body in the plenum... they just got a silencer instead...

.............Ummm....see that black thing at the other end of the red intake piping?.....uhhh...that's the filter box. Everything else is just intake silencer track.
