and here are the GDB-C

Personally I don't buy that Subaru paints random paint codes on their suspensions as that would make replacement part identification impossible. The paint codes are there for a reason.

StevieD, are either of those sets of pics supposed to be the Spec C suspension?

^^^ hey Maicca. are those part #s for the springs, struts, or entire assembly??

two more general questions for all.. i just read almost the whole thread and when you guys list part numbers and show pics of the red struts w/ the black springs are the part numbers for the entire assembly (including top hats)? or do you buy springs and struts separately?

secondly, i'm looking to obtain these

but no one has listed part numbers! can anyone provide?

PN's listed are the strut assembley. You are trying to get STI Pink springs from what I can see. They are actually pretty expensive. Some vendors sell them...

Yea, I know but I might be able to get a better deal somewhere but need part #s... If I had to compromise, what suspension setup do you feel is comparable to pink springs and USDM STi red struts in terms of ride quality/stiffness and lowering?

Hey Stevie, any luck comparing the purple/purple dot Spec-Cs with the new ones you were getting in?

Trip,

Those were pulled from the strut itself. Didn't see any numbers elsewhere, except for a short description ( I think) in Nihongo.

I was puzzled by the fact that other people are listing part #s for each section of the suspension, yet the Spec C springs that I am selling now don't have any, and I don't think the Spec C set that I received have them either?

Aren't those the STi lowering springs that you're looking for? I thought that the "normal" pink set was just a "normal" JDM STi's springs.................ah, too much pink floating in my head

Good luck!

StevieD, what tophats would you recommend with these? (v8 Spec C)

I know that gruppe-s, rallispec, z1auto, and chargespeed engineering sell them as well but they are hard to get.

had v8 JDM takeoffs on my WRX for a year....better than stock, but there was room for improvement...

Cosworth and I just installed a set of pinks and group N tops...wow!

Why doesn't Subaru sell the STi's with this config, stock?

and why do some newb STi owners complain that the ride with this setup is "too harsh?"

I am running V8 takeoffs too, how is it better, less bounciness? quick review? pinks lower the car more right. Also which pinks did you use? US 04 ones or the 02/03?

thanks

I used 04 pink springs with 04 group n tops. Basically the annoying bounciness and occillation on the highway is gone. Lean is noticably reduced, and the car is generally more settled and stiff. Stiff is always a subjective word....but I will tell you that my kidneys don't hurt---and neither does anything else for that matter (and I've driven through some REALLY crappy roads today)

The car is dropped about an inch front and rear, and there is a tad more gap in the front than the rear (but as the front fender wells are cut larger, its too be expected.)

To make a long story short...the ride is more stiff, but not overwhelmingly so. I feel more confident driving it faster and harder--and that's what I was looking for.

The 2002/3's won't work right with the 2004 Strut Tops as the V8 springs are tapered. Also, I recall reading somewhere that you can't just swap over V7 strut tops onto V8 struts to make a spring swap work.

Default Riddle me this Batman :)

What struts are wagon specific, v8, inverted and painted red? I'm not sure what I've got exactly- they are most definitely wagon specific, they are most definitely inverted (and painted red), they are most definitely v8 and have subaru part #'s.

What they are not- v7 STi wagon struts, v7 sedan struts, v8 sedan struts

What they could be- WRX wagon struts (the new jdm 05 WRX's utilize inverted struts) but the pictures I've seen- Subaru's jp site show black struts as do the new STi's as well.

Did the jdm WRX's get inverted struts in MY04??? They are constantly coming out w/ special editions- is this something they dug out of the parts bin???

v7 STi wagon struts
FR 20310FE020
FL 20310FE030
RR 20360FE020
RL 20360FE030

v8 ? wagon struts
FR 20311FE820
FL 20311FE830
RR 20360FE820
RL 20360FE830

v7 STI wagon springs front- orange and blue over yellow, rear -orange and red
v8 ? wagon springs front -orange over purple and blue, rear -yellow purple

mike - Did you get this set from StevieD? I saw that set on his site and was astounded that they were labled V8 wagon and were red. I thought they would be black. But oh so cool that you have them, now you can put the 04 STi wagon pink springs on there as well with no problems. I wonder what the stock spring rate is like on those? Have you done a butt dyno on those springs to see if they feel any stiffer compared to the V7 springs?

Arnie- I did I'd love to put them on a strut dyno and have the springs tested as well. Butt dyno says the springs are very close to the v7 STi ones- very linear in design as well. Definitely much firmer than the oem ones.

If I didn't know for a fact that there wasn't v8 STi wagon offered- I'd say that's what these were off of

They should be a very good match for the wagon pink springs.

Anyone have the partnumbers for the "suscession" struts. Mid way through the 04 year they changed. I'm trying to find a set of the newer struts.

Time to revive a very informative thread!
Do we have any definitive info on V7 Spec C spring rates?
