we'll see if this cant get it started again.......

i just bought a set of "spt" springs from a guy, but when i got them, they are all black and have no isolators. i scoured this whole thread, but didn't see my setup? can someone help me out here?

F- pink dot on top with yellow and green below
R- one has orange followed by orange and yellow
the other rear has orange with 2 yellow dots one may be orange, but its not in the same spot as the other rear spring, and its real worn, so...... i cant really tell.

as far as i've seen, i didnt see my colors listed. if anyone can help me try to solve this........please do. oh, and what's the colors for stock springs? (so we can go ahead and make sure they're not stock.)

Well the only "SPT" springs sold that I'm aware of (besides the pink ones and the blue-Eibach ones) are the MY01 STi RA for the sedan and the MY01 STi wagon. These are the ones still sold in kit form (w/ struts).

I just checked my stock 2002 WRX takeoffs which are sitting in the garage... and I think that could be what you've got:

FRONT: pink over green + yellow
REAR: one is orange over yellow + orange... one is orange over yellow + red (funny - I never noticed that mismatch when I took them off...)

Mine is a wagon - AFAIK the 02/03 sedan fronts would also be pink over green/yellow but the rears different. Since both our rear springs have questionable markings I'd hesitate to say sedan or wagon.

I think I've posted elsewhere in the past that the fronts were pink over blue + yellow - but your query made me check again and it's definitely a kind of 'sage green'.

[BTW the convention I'm using is top to bottom and left to right i.e. 'pink over green + yellow' means a pink dot at the top with green below and to the left and yellow below and to the right]

[BTW2 I think I'm also guilty of posting in the past that the 'SPT wagon' kit has "RA-rate" springs like the sedan version. In fact it uses standard v7 STi (GGB) springs: pink over orange/blue and yellow over orange/red]

I think I'd be emailing whoever you bought those off of- like I said there are only two non-colored SPT springs availalbe- the oem RA ones sold in the sedan kit and the oem STi wagon ones sold in the wagon kit. Clearly you don't have either of those.

By UkNuck's post it's very possible you have plain jane oem WRX struts

turbo - the STi V6 Gymkhana setup is GC8 only. The comparable setup is the Arai Tarmac setup. Both are brutally stiff riding.

You'd also want the appropriately matched struts (that STi has designated) to go w/ the springs. I've seen reviews on the GC tarmacs- they are uber stiff. I haven't read much on the Arai ones to date.

I just purchased what was advertised as JDM sti spec-c type RA spring strut for the MY05+ cars. After discussion with the seller the set up is spec-c not RA as they are not 4 way adjustable or pink. From what I can gather based on the springs they are probably the same as the V8 but these are from a V9 or V10.
GDB (e)? Spec-C
fronts
20311FE810
20311FE800
rears
20360FE910
20360FE900
with spring paint codes orange second coil down and blue green third coil
rears are double green 3-4th coil down both with gray

Here is a picture of a USDM V8 STi front spring on the left (purple dots) and a JDM V8 STi Spec C front springs on the right (green/blue dots).

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg

Here is the thread:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=872623

As we can see they are shorter on the Spec C. The v8 spec C struts are all identicle as has been stated and confirmed many times.

Does anyone know the spring rates for the MY05 JDM Spec C springs? Are the struts different since they do in fact bear different part numbers as the V8s or the USDM STI struts?

i doubt this has anything to do with the topic but i bought v8 struts. they clunked when i bought them. i put my progress springs on them they clunked with them for a few thousand miles, maybe 3. i just replaced the progress springs with tanabes and tooo the struts apart and cut the bump stops. i made sure each insert was seate properly. no noise in 4 days. nothing else major done. not even that thought of noise.

Does anyone know what was revised in the rear for the reduced roll center?

Colors for the 2004 STI spec C type RA (gravel spec) is:

There are two spots on the lowest ring of the spring that are blue and green. There is one spot on the second-lowest ring of the spring that is orange. The rears have a pink dot on top of the strut and two green dots on the coil spring.

I've got a set of struts that came from a friend's JDM MY04 STi Spec C. He didn't need them anymore as he was building the car to Group N rally specs (stock struts no good in the gravel).

The part numbers are:
Front struts:
20311FE211
20311FE201
The paint marks on the springs are orange on one coil and blue and green on the next one.

Rear struts:
20360FE701
20360FE711
Paint parks are 2 green dots on the same coil.

I'm actually selling these struts at the moment and a potential buyer is having doubts over the authenticity of them. I've assured him that I know the seller and I know the car they came from, but do the part numbers and paint codes confirm that these are actually Spec C struts?

Cheers,
Ben

EDIT: I didn't read the whole way through this thread and I've just realised that old mate with the Spec C is actually MSR who has posted pics of these exact struts a couple of posts up. They are now in my garage.

Here's another couple of pics for good measure:

OK, this is a paint marking pattern I didn't find anywhere in this thread:

If the picture dies, both the front and rear springs have two purple paint daubs on the 3rd coil from the bottom.

I was sold these as 05 USDM STi stock springs. Anyone know for sure if that's right?

interesting to know that subaru gives very different equipment to different countries...the 05 wrx in singapore it seems has inverted struts...singapore models should be the same as Uk and Australia spec ones, and i thought same as US spec except US left hand drive...but no, not the same for US...hmmm...

i'm in malaysia, and they are still trying to clear off 03 stock...sad...
