Default Brullen catback for '02 2.5RS?

I'm looking at exhausts for my '02 RS, and I like the look of the Brullen setup... The twin tips look nice..

What I'm curious of... How loud is the "quiet" exhaust compared to stock? I don't really want something loud, but I want to be able to get more of an exhaust note than stock.

Has anyone else put this exhaust on a '02-'03 RS?

So how much louder than stock is the "medium" version? If you lived in a quiet neighborhood, and left for work at 5:00 am every morning, do you think your neighbors would be annoyed by it?

DR EVYL - the following are links to sound clips. It's of the quiet set-up on a car w/ headers, hi-flow cat, intake & headwork.

http://www.ionperformance.com/engine...t/BDG/idle.wav
http://www.ionperformance.com/engine...DG/3rpmcab.wav
http://www.ionperformance.com/engine...DG/idlecab.wav
http://www.ionperformance.com/engine...BDG/neurev.wav

Compared to stock it's not too much louder, but the sound is much deeper & smoother then the stock.

There are several guys that have this on their MY02's. However sound will be the same as the exhaust on MY98-01 anyways.

If you have any questions, feel free to email us directly -> info@ionperformance.com

Hard to tell anything from those clips, the 60 Hz hum is louder than the exhaust is, and I can't really hear the tone of the exhaust over it.... which I suppose means it's really quiet.

Well, Doc,
I've had a Brullen single 4" tip, 2.25" piping, Quiet cat-back approx 2 yrs. It and a scoobysport were the only two canisters on my shortlist when I purchased. The sound increase over stock has been noticeable... I like it, but would definitely not want it any louder. Some passengers complain, especially after hiway driving. It would set off the odd car alarm while driving by ( ), but this is infrequent. To someone who likes the deep sound, its a treat ... almost a visceral grrrrr. In the cabin, all the combined decibels of exhaust, aftermarket suspension, CAI intake, stereo, and whatnot tend to be additive, so I'm really glad I got the quiet variety. I have not sound-dampened the boot, but that would likely help. It's significantly heavier than stock, so recommend some urethane hangers (Kartboy,etc...) to keep things well behaved back there. Fitment, performance gain and customer service = excellent. The thing is bullet proof and there is absolutely no rust. I haven't heard many ppl regret their choosing Brullen.

LOL.

I'm evil by thought, and not by deed.

It actually was a nickname given to me by a former car club, I got the personalized plate, and then bought the domain EVYL.ORG, so it stuck at that point.

I'm considerate of my neighbors, though.

I think I will probably go with the quiet version..

Question two: Resonated or non-resonated on the mid pipe?

I feel like I'm buying a bong when I say that.. LOL

DR EVYL - The quiet & medium acoustic preferences both have resonators. Only the loud doesn't.

FYI when you purchase the exhaust from us, you can also purchase our matching Poly-U hangers made specifically for our exhausts for $19.95US+shipping vs. the $34.95US+shipping that's the regular NASIOC discounted price.

For the dual tip 2.25" RS cat-back the NASIOC discounted price is $542US+shipping. *note that prices are for payment via MO, CC only available via Paypal and subject to 5% charge*

Feel free to email us if you have any further Q's. -> info@ionperformance.com

You'll have to forgive me, because I really don't know what the resonator does for the exhaust, which is why I am asking about that What does it do: Make it louder? Change the tone? Why would I want it or not want it?

Also.. I see you're in Canada. I looked at your website when I first started shopping for exhausts, but as soon as saw you were outside the US, I started looking elsewhere because I figured it would take a lot longer. Is this not the case? How long would it take to get one shipped to Seattle, and how much would it cost?

Would like to hear some good sound clips of this... someone really needs to redo those other ones.

DR EVYL- shipping generally takes between 10-14business days to arrive in Washington state. Even if you order from our dealers it still comes out of Canada

Ordering straight from us will decrease you lag time by about a week or so. Generally you're guaranteed to recieve the exhaust between 3-4 weeks from the time payment is recieved. Sometimes you'll get it in 2-3 weeks tops.

As for the resonator, it takes out the droning in the cabin @ cruising speeds. If you're looking for something that won't wake up the neighbours, get the quiet.

There's actually quite a few guys in Washington state that are running our system, you might be able to meet up with them to perhaps hear it in real life.

Feel free to email us if you have any further questions.

So Ion Performance is the manufacturer of the Brullen? Forgive me if that sounds like a dumb question, I'm pretty new to the Subaru world.

Kucheto - you should be receiving the poly-U hangers any day

DR EVYL - We've contracted Brullen to manufacture exclusively manufacture Subaru exhausts for us. This way we can provide better quality control as well as streamline/reduce wait times.

nySulli - no real measureable differences interms of power for the different acoustic preferences. The only time you'll start having some minor differences is if you w/ a full N/A build-up or a turbo app. However still the difference would be less then 1hp.

The only real measureable difference is in weight. The loud systems are the lightest b/c there's no resonator, and there's lighter packing material in the muffler itself.

iON - got your messages, thanks.

I got another question though on the following:

I found the same setup on SubaruPlanet.com (http://www.imprezars.com/brullen.htm), and at lower prices than what you quoted me. There's no price on the site for the header-back package, but the individual items are less. Is this some sort of partnership, cause you did mention exclusivity...
