Default Has anybody modified the stock blow off valve to be louder?

I want a louder blow off valve but I'm too cheap to spend the money. Has anybody tried messing with the stock BOV to make it louder?

I did a search and couldn't find anything.

A few people have made threads like this before actually from what I remember.. I think there are so many threads now that the search function does not always work like it should.

But the answer is that it will not work, someone had tried it and posted that his car ran like crap for whatever reasons. The spring on the bov probably doesn't function right when it's not venting back to the intake maybe, maybe it opens too long or too soon and makes for bad driving(since it throws off the MAF sensore reading and a/f mixture).

In any case, if you want to hear your stock BOV more without actually getting an aftermarket one(which doesn't actually help performance) install an Perrin intake, or TXS shorty intake that will make it louder I'm sure.

A free-flowing air filter supposedly frees up some sound. The silencer removal is also supposed to but I didn't notice much change when I did the silencer.

If you want to hear your BOV get a aftermarket one. I have one that vents 100% to the atmosphere with no problems, some people have problems with them though. If you are nervous about going 100% you can get a BOV thatents 50% to the atmosphere and 50% back into the intake also. I have not heard of any problems with the 50/50 BOVs.

If you want to hear the stock BOV get a short ram. I installed a Perrin short ram a week ago, and it is loud. All sorts of induction noises now.
I'm undeceided if it's gonna stay or go, because of the noise.

So which one do you have? How much was it?

either go with a 50/50 (ie forge) or get a short ram.
i was running the blitz dd super sound. it was cool sounding but it was too loud when you want to be "stealth".
i bought a perrin short ram intake. 15 minute install. definitely hear the stocker blowing back into the intake tract. its not obnoxious but you definitely hear it. i hear it echo off everything while i'm driving it.
i wish we could mod our stockers like the dsm guys. crushing or something brought out this hks-sounding chirp.
anyway yeah go 50/50 or short ram. 50/50 is louder but probably a little more expensive than a short ram would run.

Naw, I want as loud as possible. I need to be able to hear it over my exhaust. My exhaust is 4" into 3" straight back with no muffler. It's very loud, it sets off car alarms if I'm not careful.

Here is an idea!

THere is an electronic BOV simulator hthat has a big speaker. You can activate it from inside and I think you can hook it up to the tach signal.

You would have loud sound and no loss in power!

I plugged the return hose and tried using the stock BOV venting to atmosphere and this caused bogging and eratic idle. IT SUCKED ARSE! I now have a blitzdd. No problems.

^^Because the stock BPV isn't intended to work venting to atmosphere. It doesn't seal quickly enough...and when VTA, that air goes out of the engine..and causes stuttering.

Most aftermarket VTA units won't do that once adjusted properly/tightly enough.

An intake will make it sound louder, especially a full cold air unit. I did notice my bpv was much louder with my tdo4 than with my vf39 and even the evo3 16g.
