Default '03 2.5rs What kind of Oil?

What kind of oil is used at the factory for this car? I'm getting ready to do my first oil change and I would like to use the same stuff as the factory for this one, before I switch to synthetic.

Just buy any high quality 5w30 motor oil (i.e. Valvoline, Mobil, Castrol GTX, etc.)

It doesn't really matter, I used Castrol GTX 5W-30 at 1500 miles and then Mobil 1 5W-30 at 5000 and every 5000 thereafter (big highway commute here).

Someone had told me that switching brands was not good for your engine, so I just wanted to make sure. I know you shouldn't switch back and forth between regular and synthetic, and I think I'm going to give it 3000 more miles with regular oil before I make the switch.

Does the brand of oil really matter? I was always taught that oil is oil, unless it's synthetic.

Whoever told you that is illinformed. There's no issue with switching brands of oil or switching from dyno oil to synthetic. The only time this becomes a problem is when you switch different weights of oil. IE: mixing 5w30 with 10w30.

If you're going to change oil weights, drain the oil first and then switch.

Thanks for all the replies...I'm doing my first oil change with 5W-30 Castrol GTX and a PureOne filter this afternoon.

the sales was trying to tell me that the factory uses some type of special oil and that you don't have to change it for 4 thousand miles. he also tried to tell me the break-in period is completely unecessary... moron.

The break in period is right there in the owner's manual. I hate salesmen who don't know anything about the product. I feel like if you are trying to sell me something, you should know more about it than I do. Car salesmen are notorious for this.
