Default Intake options for a 2.2

I always thought the Cobb/PRM CAI would fit my 2000 wagon, but not according to Cobb

What would be my next best option? I really want something that connects to the fender.

Thanks

You asked them (Cobb) if their CAI would fit your 2.2 wagon and they said NO??? Far from me to argue with them on their own product, but if it fits a 2.5, then I have no idea why it wouldn't fit a 2.2.

Default Response from Cobb

My question:

http://cobbtuning.com/impreza/powerpackage1.html#cai

I'd like to know if this CAI fits on a 2000 2.2 engine (impreza L)

Many thanks

Their response:

Unfortunately that intake does not fit the 2000 2.2L engine at this time.
We are investigating the potential to make modifications but the demand for
such has been very low.

Let me know if you have any other questions, or feel free to search and/or
post on our Forum.

IIRC the 2000L is the Phase II and uses a MAP. I thought the 2.5 intakes would work. Hmm.
The older 2.2 uses a MAF so the Cobb doesn't work. The Ganzflow will work but they are not selling them temporarily.

For the MAF cars you can do a low buck mod. Remove the snorkus from the fender and seal up the air box to the fender inlet. Put a plug in fender hole where the air intake comes out of the fender.
I then made a ghetto "ram-air" intake by using an L fog light trim piece instead of the right fog light. I taped over all of the holes between the engine bay and the fender.
You can see a write-up with pictures on the Modifications link above.
It is definitely louder. Maybe more power in low end.

Caron,

Your wagon is equiped with a MAP sensor, mine is equiped with a MAF, that's why your air intake is not like mine. Your MAP is probably as usual, under 2 inchs of dust and dirt, that's why you can't found it

Remember my "Dazz's power intake " that I showed you, it's exactly what linsavy explain you.

Just compare your 2000 with an RS2000 or 2001, you will have your answer if the PRM fit on your EJ22.

Or come see me, we will trick you something funy

I will let you ride my EJ22 with the new sound & power of a full 2.25in exhaust line
