Default legacy tails and side repeaters??

Ok, I've tried the search button and have not come up with the results I was looking for. But I have heard that there are either jdm or edm legacies(96-99) with side repeaters or side markers, that replace the black door strip that is on the fender, kind of an arrowhead shape, is this true, and does anyone have part numbers or pics. And also I read a post this past week with part numbers for some jdm tail lights with center section(for a wagon) and can't find that either. I have someone in england that can get me these parts, jdm or edm, and was just trying to get part numbers or pics or maybe even a website where I can look all thes up at, to help him out. Thanks for any help.
Jason

This is the best shot I have of my sidemarkers, and they're not lit up. I'll try and take some closer pics for ya. Mine came with black surrounds and a smoked lens, so they fit in really well, but you can pop off the lenses and paint them to match your paint, too...

bwhahaha
thanks, ciper

I can kinda see them, do they line up with the rest of that black strip? It's kinda hard to tell, closer pics would be great. Do you remember part numbers, or if they were aftermarket or the factory ones? Also was it difficult to run the wiring and hook them up? Sorry for all the questions, and thanks for your help.

I'll try to take some closer pics in the next few days.
They line up perfectly, the only thing you'll notice is that the whole unit is a bit flatter (uniformly close tot he body) where the original trim piece bows out a little bit. It's the exact same shape, however, and looks factory. Mine were aftermarket from Japan; the only things I needed to find were 194 bulb sockets and I had to order some retaining clips (your local dealer can get them. they are the same part as the clips for the 90-94 legacy side markers. The clips screw right in for a factory fit, or you might need to shave 1/16th off each side (you'll see when you get them). My dealer charged me only like $2 for the clips, and the parts guy happened to have a bag of a bunch of old turn signal sockets, and let me dig through it. The Impreza (93-01) sidemarker socket/harness is a factory solution, but I would just cruise a junkyard until you find something that fits, as the factory harnesses are something like $15 apiece. 194's are the little wedge bulbs.

Wiring couldn't be easier; pull your headlights out (you'll have to remove the grill first, we can help you with that) and tap 2 wires ontot he turn signal leads, one on each of the outside wires. This will give you lights that work the exact same as the parking lights, coming on when the parking lights do, and flashing sychronized with the turn signals.

I tooka coat hanger and attached the 2 wires, then ran it up through the fender, above the fender liner, then was able to manipulate it through the hole for the sidemarker that already exists. Connected my sockets, and wala.

Oh, to remove the factory trim plugs, IIRC, get something non-marring and pry up the back side (towards the door) and then slide the whole unit back towards the door. Someone else back me up, it might be the other way around, as it's been a while.

While it's a long writeup, it only took me about 5-10 minutes to do once I had the parts......

FWIW, mine were smoked and had little orange squares on the back sides of the lenses to make them amber. Becuase the 194's are so small, clear or amber bulbs will accomplish the same effect without an unsightly piece of orange plastic, so I boiled the side markers for a couple minutes, the carefully pried the lens from the housing, removed the orange, then used a gel CA along the edge to resecure the lenses. 1 year, in Santa Cruz, where it rains constantly, and no leaks, so it works fine

I would suggest trying www.japanparts.com

I was trading e-mails with them, they are pretty good to work with and have good product knowledge.

jason, To see the sidemarkers on my White car try this link, second pic down.
http://home.earthlink.net/~nuburu2/

Definitely aftermarket stuff for us USDM folks, although they appear to be OEM on the JDM cars. Never did get an offer of parts#'s from our friends in Nippon though.

I am getting Morrettes and have been looking for the side markers also. I tried Z1, but he needs a PN to order them. Gotta keep looking.

Hey Benjamin, I could use a center section, but clear, not smoked. Might you be able to find out for me?

aftermarket clear side repeaters that someone sold in a group buy a while back. I painted them myself.

I think I have an extra set of OEM amber sidemarkers if you are interested. I cant remeber how much I paid for them, I can check if you want them.

Thank-you everyone for your replies, the pics were very helpful, the link to Japanparts.com, and sybir for the how to. I for once had a 2-day weekend and had to take advantage of it, so that's why I haven't responded sooner. I've sent my friend in england an e-mail and am waiting for a reply back to see what he can do. I will get part numbers from him for those that were wondering as well. Hopefully I'll have these soon and post some pics. Thanks again.
