Um... I buy thousand dollars of parts (actual money) and you install (free for you), tune (free for you), and do dyno runs (almost free)... are you guys nuts?

If you want a test car, use you OBS and see what happens

mexicanpizza: YES! You pay for parts at cost, NOT retail, and you get one bad arse tuned car SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than everyone else.
We already know that this block works in other applications. However, this would be the first time that this block would be used for a street car.

SJwrx: We install for free???? It does cost me time and money. I have to pay employees for the actual labor. Plus the tune is not free. I do have to pay for the license and tuners time. Lastly, I do pay for use of the dyno.

Finally, in order to make a fair and comparable test. I cannot use a conversion car. We would like to compare Apples to Apples.

I hope that clears things up.

If I decide to go through with this, how much do I have to come out of pocket?

Sounds awesome guys...I'd be interested in how much I'd be looking at and what kind of yields you expect?

I assume you'd need a full standalone, and entirely upgraded fuel system.

Chris~ I think SJwrx was responding to mexicanpizza in regards to him thinking this wasn't much of a deal, when it fact, it really is! It is a great deal because you are getting the tuning and install free (Not free for ispeed), and parts at cost.

BTW I see my future car. 97 brighton stripped with recaros in the front, black FMIC, cusco cage, WRX 2.6 stroker package!

Actually I was saying that its not that great of a deal. Paying your employees (which are your friends anyway) doesn't barely cost anything. And I'd presume you've worked out a deal with a dyno company at a good rate.
If you guys are serious about doing engines, experiment on your own cars.

Rich: you are entitled to your views. However let me share this tidbit with you and everyone else. Love doesn’t pay the bills. People and services need to be paid, however little you may think it is or isn’t, people still get paid in my book.

Also I am sure that my fellow co-workers can attest that with me business is business and friends are just that …“friends”.

Lastly we are working on a few other projects which have ALL our own cars wrapped up. So we cannot, at this time, play with the 2.6L in our cars.

Sounds like a great deal for someone looking to make some serious power. First off, it's going to be professionally done from start to finish. Secondly, I don't think any self-respecting tuner would do anything less than an outstanding job if they're going to site the car as a example of their work. Not to mention the fact that the car's owner will already have dyno results at no cost to them.

What do you nay-sayers want? A free motor AND tuning AND dyno testing?! Get real, guys.

Default crazy people!

You guys are nuts! This is an awsome deal. You get the engine AT COST (not retail), you get free dyno tuning for it, and you get free install! What the hell else could you ask for??? Do you people live in some magic world where things don't cost money? If I wasn't a poor college student, I'd be all over this. Go I-Speed!

Chris, you still haven't said how much one is going to have to come out of pocket to get this 2.6L motor... That might help. PM me with pricing and details.

may i ask what the expected cost would be for future customers? including install and everything?

can you imagine a daily driver, running normal amount of boost, just some regular mods, but with a 2.6l! that would be awesome, no big turbos with huge lag, no worries about running totally catless, etc..

very cool

The retail price has not yet been determined. We would like to do basline testing on a WRX before we decide on the price.
Total time swap short blocks (this includes taking and putting a motor back in the car) is about 15 hours.
