That does really suck.....alot of us on the board have been down that road lately. On the up side, the canadian market is on the upswing. And if you are able to relocate a little...you should not have any problems finding work. What kind of work do you do if I may ask?

I worked as a telelmarketer for CRM software and promoting seminars. I didn't love the job but I was making real good money. Lately, our hours have been cut. They haven't been getting contracted by anyone, so they have no work for me. I've been looking for another job for the last couple of weeks, but no luck.

Unfortunately, I think the market is going to drop again. As some may know, the SARS, west nile and now the one cow they found in Alberta with mad cow disease is not going to help anything. I want to relocate to NJ...but that's another thread in the tristate forum.

Wait, why do you want to relocate to NJ? I just relocated from NJ! If you do move there, whereabout are you planning on going? I'd suggest staying away from anywhere within a 20 mile radius of NYC.

Well, I was born and raised in NNJ. I lived about 10 minutes outside of NYC, in a suburban town about 5 minutes from Newark. NNJ is crazy expensive. I was paying 675/month for a basement apartment at one point. More recently, I rented the 2nd floor of a house (6 rooms total) for 850/mo. That was considered cheap and it took me close to a year to find it.

Also, the traffic and population density is just insane. Car insurance is also ludicrous. I was paying 2600/year for my Focus and a 93 Dodge Colt!!! Keep in mind, I have no points.

Ah crap! I never knew. How/when did this happen? Fill me in!

Well, where he lives is pretty nice. It's like one step away from the insanity of NJ.

Did you get american citizenship? And if you did, how did you go about doing so? The bf lives in Wayne. I'm pretty sure I'll be making me way into the states through school. I want to find somewhere that is around no more then and hour away from their.

Oh, and it costs about 800+ for a decent one bedroom apartment in Ottawa. So, I don't see ahuge difference. And about the car insurance...I don't have a car. I can see that as a problem.

There is a university (William Paterson) right in Wayne; like 5 minutes from where Patrick lives.
