Default ''North meets South'' meet July 26th 2003, South of The border NC/SC

Posting this for Weasel 555

Quote:
A North meets South Meet...

Where:
South of the Border
I-95 at the North Carolina/South Carolina border near Dillon, SC;
Mini-resort featuring hotel, miniature golf, factory shops, restaurants, and sombrero shaped observation tower. Also has swimming pool and tennis courts.

Just seeing if any one would be interested in having a North /South Meet

and atleast you can't get lost (hopefully) on I-95....you either drive North or Head South

I was thinking either a weekend in July or August ?

Some day, you're going to have to come up to Bahstin... and then drive to someplace like SC and see how you like it.

Mapquest shows it's a 13 hr drive. (Clear Traffic)

Sayyy... leaving around 4AM to be at the meet around 5PM... you hit NYC at 8AM. Hello traffic. Leave earlier? Like 2? You'll be in NY around 6ish... tell me there's no traffic then either.

Really.. come on up and then try getting though that mess from CT. You'll see why even truckers hardly come into New England... that little bottleneck called NY/NJ SuX0Rs.

KC,

The problem is not NY/NJ, you just need to know the right way to go.

If you are leaving from Mass, DO NOT GO down 95. 95 becomes the Cross Bronx Expwy in NYC and that is always backed up. Instead take 84 to 684 to 287. Cross the Tapan Zee bridge and take the Palisade Parkway south till it meets up with I 95 and you have succesfully bypassed the traffic.

Now if you hit traffic in CT, that is another story and not the fault of NYC.

<-- Commuted back and forth to Boston for a Summer from NJ, and numerous trips since then.

I can make it from Hartford, CT to Fairfax County, VA in less than hours. No traffic anywhere.

How do you ask?

Leave at midnight, that's how!

Now... From there on... Another 5 or 6 hours I would estimate...

I would go for sure if the issue of gas money, tolls, food, where to stay, etc wasn't on my mind. I have family in VA... But only 1/2 way there. Again... Money is my problem. Maybe by then I'll be working. If I am, 90% chance I'll go!

LOL

What speed limit did you follow?

Daily Driver Cars = 65
WRX Owners = AS FAST AS YOU WANT BEYOTCH!
STi Owners = FASTER! NO! MUCH FASTER! KEEP GOING!

Hehe, you probably believe the same thing I do...
"All cars must yield to the WRX. It's the law!"

Seems like you know how to make good time!

75mph average non stop...
So, stopping for gas...
Food...
Coffee...
Bathroom...

I assume you did 90 to 100 the whole trip!

I really didnt want to be driving for 2 days... so i just went for it. I was alone so i didnt have to listen to anyone bitch and or ask me to stop.

I only stopped for food and to go to the bathroom when I needed gas. Other than that... ya pretty much 90-100 the WHOLE way.

I drove a few hundred miles with other cars going 90-110mph as a group. Most of the way there was a chick in a black honda prelude or something like it. I let her drive about 1/8th mile ahead of me as a lure... it worked out good.

The fastest i went thru a speed trap was a touch under 90. No takers tho... Made it safely there and back without incodent (knocks on wood)

The same trip on the way home took me 24 hours...

Was quite an experience. Its amazing what the human body can do when asked

When people bitch about something thats like an hour away I just laugh now. Nothing seems far away anymore.

Was a fun time. Next I want to see how long it takes to get to CA

I'll most likely be heading back to NH from Orlando that weekend, so I can try to make it so I hit South of the Border that day. If anyone's driving back to NH from the meet, let me know

Alright, I have a question...

How many people are are on the list to show up?

I highly find no reason for myself or ANY guy from New England to drive to SC to see 20 or 30 guys they don't know...
*Ben Stein voice* Wow...

So, give me the number.

Talked to my mother who lives in VA... She says she's about 4 to 5 hours from the border of NC/SC... So... If it's worth it, I'll drive down to see her that weekend YEAH RIGHT!!! More like a free place to stay!
I can't afford to stay the night somewhere for $$$.

Oh yeah, what are are all the details...
What time is everyone supposed to meet?

I want all the details!

If it sounds good, I'll represent New England! Zapix, The Official Confused Western Massachusetts Impreza Crew (WMIC) Member and NESIC Cheapest Meet Whore!

It's useless!

Admit it!

I'll be the only NESIC guy down there!

Still wanna know how many people are supposed to be going. Looks like the SQC guys are going... That seems to be after the regional meet on Saturday about 20+ guys...

My good ol' birth state of Florida seems to be bring up a crew...

So... Like what... 40 people or something? 50 people?

LMAO

Drive by myself? Heh, if I wanted, I'd meet up with the SQC guys...
However, I won't be.

Since I'll be driving south, I'm gonna visit my mom and family in Virginia for the week. Then I'll leave early Saturday I suppose to be there. Spend the night... Possibly leave ungodly early to hit the Mach V vendor meet in Falls Church, VA... Then head home. Insane? Yeah! That's the life of a meet whore!!

Still, I would love to know how many people are going to be coming from Florida and all that! I'm trying to get jtek and ebr0t from ClubWRX to show up! If they go, I will whore myself down there right now!

The list of people who are going... I am very likely to end up going, as I'll be leaving the Quality Subaru meet this Sunday to head down to VA to see the family. Or so they think!
Then I'll probably leave VA to head to this meet.
So yeah... Connecticut's meet whore will probably be there!
