Default saw a porsche cayenne the other day

so i walk out of school the other day, and what do i see sitting right in front of me with a middle aged soccer mom sitting in the driver seat? a brand new porsche cayenne.

styling wise, i was kinda disappointed. it has a super clean look to it, but i dunno, not very appealing IMO, atleast not for what 100K should buy you. looks very different than in photos, kind of akward.

but perhaps the best part was when it drove away, and what did i see on the trunk

cayenne turbo

an suv that can stay with some of the best sports cars. the turbo version has what...almost 500hp?

other than being complete and utter heresy... not too bad...

The Cayenne comes from the same people with the magazine advertisement that says something to the effect of, "the wants of the masses have been noted, and duly ignored." yeah whatever...

yeah actually it's REALLY SMALL! it's more the size of a mureno than an SUV suv.
my friend's rich development has one in it. i don't think it's turbo though. still...

the only sexy SUV out there so far.

Just wait for the forester turbo.

yeah, one of our new Ensigns down here in P'cola has one. How he afforded that on O-1E pay is beyond me.

But its neat

I've seen a few in town. They are cool, I guess. I'd rather have a porsche c4 or turbo.

Lamborghini did make an SUV in the 80's or early 90's btw.

the LM002 blew... carbon fiber sidewalls on it's tires which were $1000 a piece... room for 4... with 4 more in the back whatever that thing was called that had no top to it... the Cayenne isn't nearly as bad in terms of being an automobile but it's still a Porsche SUV...

I saw a few in a line at Holtz when I picked up my car last friday. Seemed more like a wagon on stilts...it had semi-nice lines, but you don't get a porsche if you want to transport more then 2 people.

I've seen one or 2 on the road. When I do see them, I politely put my window down and give it the finger as I pass it.

Beats a Boxster S around Nurburgring (sp), and is pretty good off road - the ultimate all around vehicle.

I guess the only problem is the people that confuse Porsche AG with an indie rock group and get upset that they "sold out".

Business is business. Americans are dropping 50grand on dressed up Tahoes and Suburbans so it only makes sense that Porsche get in on it and make some cash. They way I see it, if it facilitates more development, then I am all for it. The Cayanne is a cash cow and it will be milked for everything it is worth.

The wagon is the SUV of the future...it started with the Lexus LX300 and the Bimmer, and now the Nissan Murano & Infiniti QX45 especially look like giant wagons and not at all like any kind of "truck". Same goes with the Cayenne.
When you see someone getting out of any of those, be sure to say "nice wagon!"

wagons 0wn!

yes, i'm very happy that dr ferry's vision has been whored out to profit off of suburbanites that think they're in touch with nature because they drive an SUV.

IMHO, porsche SUV = dumbest idea evAr. way to pollute the bloodlines.

Not according to some of the real serious Porsche purists!

Of course the introduction of the Cayenne has somehow turned legions of people who never even owned a Porsche into armchair purists
